Comments about Giottos MT-9251 Classic Aluminum Tripod Legs:
I love the quick screw leg extension. Makes slapping the tripod up very quick when necessary. Great build and no problems as of yet.
Sure beats the heck out of off brand $30 dollar cheapo tripods. Broke my share of those.

Comments about Giottos MT-9251 Classic Aluminum Tripod Legs:
Very sturdy and lighter that I had hoped for. The tripod even comes with a hook under the center mount to hang your camera bag or weights on to weigh the tripod down.
As well, easy leg adjustment, perfect height for those up to a little over six feet tall, etc.
What a great and reasonably priced investment!

Comments about Giottos MT-9251 Classic Aluminum Tripod Legs:
I have an older Giottos Tripod that weighed nearly 10 pounds. My wife and I were living in the Republic of Korea and were getting ready to go to Thailand on a 10 day vacation and I decided I wanted something lighter than the beast I had to travel with. I went to a local store and they had this tripod there. I liked the lighter weight of it and the size was decent as well.
I have taken this tripod all over the world and back. Literally. From Korea and Thailand, to Australia, Hong Kong, all through the USA and now in Greenland this tripod served me well.
The weight of it is nice as well as the smaller size. The only real problem that I have had with it is the leg locks. Mine got a little gummed up on a beach photo shoot and after cleaning them they are harder to keep retracted. If I retract the legs and tighten the locks the bottom sections of the legs still slip out. I have to really crank on the locks to get them to stay retracted. This isn't so bad as I have the strenght to do so, but then I have to apply even more strength to get the legs unlocked.
I like the fact that I can adjust this low to the ground with independent leg openings, but the center column does limit me with macro photography. They sell a shorter column but I never purchased one.
I have this paired with a Giottos ProII ballhead, and it has worked but is at the point in its life where it is being replaced by a new one. Well, not really replaced, I will keep this tripod and ball head for some use, but the new Gitzo and Acratech setup is so much better than this guy. For about the same weight I have more height, same compact shape, and more stability.
The reversing center column on this is nice, I have used it and it did work well.
Overall if you are looking for a cheaper tripod I would consider this one. If it wasn't for my SuperTele lens purchase I would probably be using it everyday still. But it has taken a back seat. I guess you could say it is good that I am not getting rid of it....

Comments about Giottos MT-9251 Classic Aluminum Tripod Legs:
After buying several cheap tripods that have failed or broken, I finally decided to get a good tripod. I primarily shoot portraits and occasionally have the need for a tripod. This tripod is very solid, and well built. I like how it can be taken apart for cleaning. While a bit heavier than my last cheap tripod, the weight is not that bad. I opted to use it with a Manfrotto 486RC. It was easy to assemble. The included case holds the legs and head with still a bit of room left over. In addition the case the is also the tool kit and another shoulder strap that attaches directly to a hook on the tripod. This is great for when you don't want to carry the case.
After reading many reviews I found this would be a great unit for the shooting I do. I'm also going to get the MT-9241 and a Giottos ball head. This tripod is a little bit smaller and weighs less. It would be great for a travel tripod. I don't think you can go wrong with quality of Giottos!

Comments about Giottos MT-9251 Classic Aluminum Tripod Legs:
The MT-9251 is solid, stable, strong, adjustable and has the features and that to suit my needs. I needed a dual purpose setup for digital video and my DSLR. I shoot my daughters' gymnastics meets and put together DVDs for the team complete with menus, soundtrack and slideshows. This tripod fits perfectly for what I use it for. I paired it with the Giottos MH-5001 head and it works great for video and stills. I am impressed with the quality and the advertised baked on finish should wear well. My videos have improved since getting the legs and head combo. This is the best tripod I've had yet and can't imagine how much better it could get. But I'm not willing to shell out $1000+ for a pro setup. I will never go back to the cheapo tripods from the chain stores that's for sure.
My only gripe is the included bag. It is nice and padded and long enough even with the head on the legs but it could use some more width as it is difficult to zip up.
