Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:
PERFECT camera for just keeping with you at all times in a purse or shirt pocket. I ultimately gave mine to my daughter, at college, when I bought my Nikon SLR, but I miss it! So, I am ordering another which my husband can also take with him on his travels. Simple to use and intuitive. Takes great pictures. Best of all, Canon customer service was wonderful to fix it when it quit working -- probably due to getting banged around a little in my purse. Definitely recommend this camera for the point and shoot photography! Great in indoor low light situation too. Red eye is no worse than other cameras of this ilk.

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:
I bought the camera for all types of photo shots and I am already super happy with the ease of use and the simple controls on the camera. The IS feature is probably one of the best parts of the camera (especially when shooting my grand kids!). High quality photos at a great price. You might as well purchase a 2GB SD Card with the camera since you won't get many photos on the 16MG card that is included with it. Also recommend a good sturdy carrying case for the camera as the only real negative would be its rather weak appearing body.

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:
I got this camera as a complement for my SLR, when I don't want to carry all my lenses. I'm impressed by the camera in general, it offers a lot of manual controls and gives good image quality.
On the negative side, it's cheap plastic, it's ugly, it's too bulky to fit in any pocket and the two AA batteries don't last long. I was also disappointed it's not compatible with Remote capture.
But for the price and with all the good stuff it offers, it's a great deal.

I am very happy with the camera. I plan to use it when my Digital SLR (also Canon) is too bulky. [...]
Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:
This camera is perfect for everything that I want to do. Icould not believe this price either. I picked up the camerathis past weekend and it's been great since then with nosnags. The pictures have excellent quality, the software issuper easy to use and fast, and the manual feature lets yoube in complete control. The thing that surprised me the mostabout the camera was the excellent image stabilization. Iwas torn between the A700 because it had a larger zoom, butthe image stabilization is much better than that. Plus youcan buy lens attachments if you want to. It's much smallerthan I thought it was going to be as well. It's not a SDseries, but still quite small. Go out and get this thing now.
Expertise: Beginner to Moderate
Problems Encountered: None so far.
Items I Recommend: I got the basic kit that they sell and it was worth it
Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:
Haven't heard minicam since the early 40s, but that shows what an old duffer I am. This camera rates a 10 on a 5-point scale with features gallore and 7.5 oz. with batteries (9.5 in the small Canon case with extra 1 Gb card). Fits my hand perfectly, easy to program in its myriad modes, smooth zoom, large screen plus excellent optical viewer; who could ask for more at the price?
Problems Encountered: None yet, and--based on prior experience with Canon film and digital cameras--I don't expect any.

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:
I bought the 570 IS to take on a trip to Europe. The images are outstanding! Camera easy to use, fits my hand perfectly & just the right weight. On a 2 week trip I shot lots of images & when I returned I still hadn't changed the 2 AA batteries. Can't see any reason to go to a SLR...

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:
Excellent 1600 iso sensitivity, full manual controls like the Canon EOS SLRs, learning curve is pretty low if you have other Canons. Setting iso is a little clunky but this is a pocket camera so real estate is in demand. Uses AA batteries just wish the Optical zoom were like the S2. However, for its purpose it fits the bill. Shutter lag no bad, IS and Face detection technology make it pretty reliable in dim light. Also had a optical viewfinder with the ability to turn off the display screen ( in a theater!) .
Problems Encountered: Shorter zoom than I'd like
Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:
Acceptable image quality. Easy to use for small or media sized hand.Zoom is not easy to handle, it changes too fast. Battery consuming is high. Most functions were not tested yet before it died. Sigh!
Problems Encountered: Everything was ok until after taking less than 40 shots, it suddenly died, with zoom sticking out. I changed batteries, no reaction, nothing is on. After a few minutes, the batteries turn hot. I repeated with new batteries, the same. I think it's kind of short circuit. I will contact B&H to return it.
