The DIGIC III image processor offers impressive response times and also powers Canons unique Face Detection and Noise Reduction Technologies, making it easier for users to capture sharp, well-exposed images in any shooting situation. Furthermore, the camera feature a versatile movie mode that records VGA & QVGA quality clips with audio and two special recording modes - Fast Frame Rate mode and Compact Movie Mode. The 2.5" LCD screen size makes it easy to view and share your photos right on the camera, and the camera is conveniently powered by AA batteries, with impressive battery life. 7.1 Megapixel Resolution
The PowerShot A570 IS provides 7.1 megapixels of resolution, gives you the ability to capture superb detail and real-life color resulting in beautiful prints with excellent sharpness and clarity at print sizes of over 16x20". The high resolution also means that even if you crop your image, your prints will still be breathtakingly beautiful.
Canon 4x Optical Zoom Lens
The 4x Optical Zoom lens is made to Canon's demanding specifications, and is capable of shooting close-ups, group shots or scenery. The addition of the 4x digital zoom yields a total zoom of 16x and provides the ability to really single out details from a distance.
Image Stabilizer Technology for Steady Shooting
The Canon PowerShot A570 IS features Canon's exclusive Image Stabilizer Technology. Camera shake can cause blurring when shooting in low light and at long focal lengths, but the advanced Image Stabilizer uses digital technology to detect camera shake and signal precise lens shifts that effectively cancel it. This means the A570 IS will allow you to take excellent-quality images in many more situations - outdoors at dusk, inside without a flash, anytime when lighting conditions are not ideal.
DIGIC III Processor with Face Detection AF/AE
Delivering fast, responsive camera performance and superb image rendering, the DIGIC III processor also drives Canon's landmark Face Detection technology. Face Detection AF/AE ensures accurate and bright people shots by automatically detecting faces in a scene and optimizing focus and exposure accordingly, and because the technology is hardware-based, it operates at the same rapid speed as Canon's standard AiAF. Furthermore, the processor incorporates iSAPS scene-recognition technology using an internal database of thousands of different photos to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance.
High ISO to Reduce Image Blur and Expand Low-light Shooting
The PowerShot A570 IS features ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto settings that reduce the effects of camera shake, subject movement, and allows you to shoot without a flash even in low-light situations, giving you greater flexibility for shooting.
16:9 Widescreen Mode
The PowerShot A570 IS includes a 16:9 widescreen option that lets you shoot still photos and movies in a format that's specially made for viewing on widescreen television sets or your computer monitor.

The highly flexible movie mode provides movie capture capability that can be customized to your needs. Select from VGA (640x480) and QVGA (320x240) resolution, with frame rates of 30 fps or 15 fps, or choose the Fast Frame Rate mode to record extremely smooth, full-motion movie clips in QVGA at 60 fps for up to 1 minute long. Furthermore, the Compact Movie Mode (160x120) records at 15 fps for up to 3 minutes, and is ideal for internet and e-mail applications.
Intuitive Mode Dial and Comfortable Grip
Simply turn the Mode Dial to the needed setting to handle any shooting condition. Choose from Auto, Manual, Movie, or Special Scene where you can select from settings such as Night, Snow, Indoor, Beach and more to get the best possible image. In-Camera Red-Eye Correction
The Red-eye Correction feature automatically detects and corrects instances of red-eye - making your pictures look more professional, however, if Red-eye is present and is not automatically detected, it can easily be corrected manually during playback mode right in the camera.
USB 2.0 Interface
Equipped with a High Speed USB 2.0 interface, the PowerShot A570 IS provides the fastest possible data transfer speeds when using a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed compatible computer.
Powered By AA-size Batteries
The camera uses common AA-size batteries that can be purchased at any store so you don't need to worry about running out of batteries or recharging batteries - simply get new ones locally. You can also use economical NiMH Rechargeable AA batteries.
Easy, Flexible Direct Printing Options
The Camera supports direct printing using the Canon Direct Print system or the PictBridge system, so you can print without a computer on many different brands and models of printers. The Direct Print feature also allows for image preview and editing (including cropping) on the camera before you begin printing, so your printed pictures are exactly what you need. Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:

PERFECT camera for just keeping with you at all times in a purse or shirt pocket. I ultimately gave mine to my daughter, at college, when I bought my Nikon SLR, but I miss it! So, I am ordering another which my husband can also take with him on his travels. Simple to use and intuitive. Takes great pictures. Best of all, Canon customer service was wonderful to fix it when it quit working -- probably due to getting banged around a little in my purse. Definitely recommend this camera for the point and shoot photography! Great in indoor low light situation too. Red eye is no worse than other cameras of this ilk.

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:

I bought the camera for all types of photo shots and I am already super happy with the ease of use and the simple controls on the camera. The IS feature is probably one of the best parts of the camera (especially when shooting my grand kids!). High quality photos at a great price. You might as well purchase a 2GB SD Card with the camera since you won't get many photos on the 16MG card that is included with it. Also recommend a good sturdy carrying case for the camera as the only real negative would be its rather weak appearing body.

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:

I got this camera as a complement for my SLR, when I don't want to carry all my lenses. I'm impressed by the camera in general, it offers a lot of manual controls and gives good image quality.
On the negative side, it's cheap plastic, it's ugly, it's too bulky to fit in any pocket and the two AA batteries don't last long. I was also disappointed it's not compatible with Remote capture.
But for the price and with all the good stuff it offers, it's a great deal.

            Truly Amazing

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:

This camera is perfect for everything that I want to do. Icould not believe this price either. I picked up the camerathis past weekend and it's been great since then with nosnags. The pictures have excellent quality, the software issuper easy to use and fast, and the manual feature lets yoube in complete control. The thing that surprised me the mostabout the camera was the excellent image stabilization. Iwas torn between the A700 because it had a larger zoom, butthe image stabilization is much better than that. Plus youcan buy lens attachments if you want to. It's much smallerthan I thought it was going to be as well. It's not a SDseries, but still quite small. Go out and get this thing now.

            An amazing "minicam"

            By Agnostic Bob

            from Escondido, CA

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:

Haven't heard minicam since the early 40s, but that shows what an old duffer I am. This camera rates a 10 on a 5-point scale with features gallore and 7.5 oz. with batteries (9.5 in the small Canon case with extra 1 Gb card). Fits my hand perfectly, easy to program in its myriad modes, smooth zoom, large screen plus excellent optical viewer; who could ask for more at the price?

Problems Encountered: None yet, and--based on prior experience with Canon film and digital cameras--I don't expect any.

I bought the 570 IS to take on a trip to Europe. The images are outstanding! Camera easy to use, fits my hand perfectly & just the right weight. On a 2 week trip I shot lots of images & when I returned I still hadn't changed the 2 AA batteries. Can't see any reason to go to a SLR...

Big Improvement over the Pro 1

            By John

            from NY

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:

Excellent 1600 iso sensitivity, full manual controls like the Canon EOS SLRs, learning curve is pretty low if you have other Canons. Setting iso is a little clunky but this is a pocket camera so real estate is in demand. Uses AA batteries just wish the Optical zoom were like the S2. However, for its purpose it fits the bill. Shutter lag no bad, IS and Face detection technology make it pretty reliable in dim light. Also had a optical viewfinder with the ability to turn off the display screen ( in a theater!) .

Problems Encountered: Shorter zoom than I'd like

            Dead on the fifth day!

            By Rhealthy

            from Minnesota

Comments about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera:

Acceptable image quality. Easy to use for small or media sized hand.Zoom is not easy to handle, it changes too fast. Battery consuming is high. Most functions were not tested yet before it died. Sigh!

Problems Encountered: Everything was ok until after taking less than 40 shots, it suddenly died, with zoom sticking out. I changed batteries, no reaction, nothing is on. After a few minutes, the batteries turn hot. I repeated with new batteries, the same. I think it's kind of short circuit. I will contact B&H to return it.
