Joby Gorillapod SLR-Zoom Flexible Mini-Tripod with Compact Ballhead
Each of the joints can bend and rotate 360°, to wrap around objects. The bottom rubber segment on the legs is larger to allow it to be used in the traditional way.
The included Slik Compact Ballhead is a ballhead for use with most 35mm, digital & light medium format cameras. It features a compact round camera stage, and an easy-to-grip locking wheel.

As of 02/06/2011 khe kit description claims 6.6lb/3kg weight rating. However, the ballhead is actually rated at 4.4lb/2kg - and that is the weakest link.

This flexible mini-tripod is great for taking with you when the terrain and area is uneven or unknown. It is large enough to wrap around good sized tree limbs, fence posts or stiff enough to place your camera on an uneven rock ledge.
The ball head helps this unit get your DSLR horizontal with some branches and posts that you might use for support.
I would also recommend getting a bubble level for the flash shoe if being square with the horizon is important to you.
Overall a great tool for the camera bag that gives you a lot of versatility and will handle the weight of your camera and lens. I believe the 6.5lb rating as I have used with a Nikon D300 with MB10 battery pack and 70-200mm lens combo.
