Kodak Z712 IS Overview

The Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS Zoom Digital Camera incorporates a 12x Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon aspheric all-glass lens with Kodak's image stabilization technology for sharp shots and steady videos. It records images with a resolution up to 7.1 megapixels, and features a 2.5" display, PASM modes, auto-image enhancement, on-camera cropping, histogram and a vast array of user-friendly features. Furthermore, the advanced controls available allow users to dive into photography and achieve more satisfying results. Kodak's proprietary color science chip yields pictures with natural details, accurate flesh tones, and impressive color.

The EasyShare Z712 camera also records TV-quality videos at up to 30 frames per second (fps) using advanced MPEG-4 compression while the built-in image stabilization technology reduces on-screen shaking from unintentional hand and camera movement, thereby making videos smoother and more pleasing to watch. The camera also offers an optical zoom feature for videos including auto focus

7.1 Megapixel Resolution
Get image quality with exceptional sharpness and color thanks to the 7.1 megapixel image sensor, and produce high quality prints at sizes up to 20 x 30 in. (50 x 75cm). Furthermore, the high resolution captured by the Z712 Digital Camera means you can crop and enlarge your images, and still have great image quality for more typical print sizes such as 4x6" or 8x10".
Powerful 12X Optical Zoom Lens
The all-glass Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon Optical Zoom Lens provides powerful zoom combined with precision optics. Its fast aperture range (f/2.8-4.8), and 12x zoom range (35mm - 420mm equivalent) offers extraordinary creative performance and sharp images. Furthermore, you can get even closer with 4.2x digital zoom, which combined with the optical zoom yields a 50x total zoom).
Kodak Color Science Image Processing Chip
With the exclusive Kodak Color Science Image Processing Chip, every picture comes to life just the way you remember it. The high-speed digital processor chip, advanced algorithms, and hardware acceleration features lets the Z712 make simultaneous, split-second decisions to produce rich, vibrant, true-to-life colors in almost any lighting situation. Each time you click the shutter, the KODAK Color Science Chip performs an advanced analysis of collected scene data to identify and adjust multiple factors that influence picture quality.
Continuous Shooting Modes and Auto Focus
Using dual sensing technologies, the Z712's high speed, auto focus system is effective in both low light and bright light situations. There is also continuous auto focus which provides a 0.26 second click-to-capture time (with preview on). Furthermore the camera has two burst modes; the First Burst mode captures up to 8 frames in rapid succession at 2 fps, while the Last Burst mode captures up to 30 frames at 2 fps, with the last 3 frames saved.
Continuous Video Recording
Choose settings for VGA (640 x 480 pixels @ 30 fps), or QVGA (320 x 240 pixels @ at 30 fps) video recording with stereo audio and capture up to 80 minutes of continuous video, depending upon available memory, or record 5, 15, or 30 second clips. Video is recorded in the universal QuickTime Video format using MPEG-4 compression, so sharing video clips with family and friends is a snap.
Manual and Auto Controls
The camera provides a complete range of manual exposure and focus controls for the ultimate creative experience. These manual controls include exposure compensation, aperture control, shutter speed control, ISO Adjust, multiple focusing modes, exposure metering selections, multiple white balance modes including manual white balance, and more. There are also a host of auto control modes including program auto, aperture priority, shutter priority, and custom modes. There are even five color modes (High color, Low color, Natural color, Black and white, Sepia), and an image sharpness control feature. Furthermore the Z712 Zoom Digital Camera remembers your settings until you change them.
Programmed Scene Modes
To provide greater image quality for those users who are unfamiliar with typical Manual exposure control features, The Kodak Z712 includes a series of Programmed Scene Modes. Using these scene modes changes the camera settings to provided the best possible image quality and exposure settings for these unique shooting situations. There are also 5 color modes available for more creative shooting.
2.5" LCD with Histogram Feature
Frame your shots with the high-resolution electronic viewfinder (EVF) or 2.5" indoor/outdoor color LCD, then verify the exposure of your pictures using the histogram feature with highlight clipping. The LCD Display lets you view your pictures right-side-up with auto picture rotation, and in review mode, quickly magnify images up to 8x to confirm focus and details, fast scroll through pictures, or view multi up images.
Picture Enhancing and Editing Features
On-camera cropping lets users frame pictures on the spot without the need for a computer, and the digital red-eye reduction eliminates red eye while capturing a picture in real time.
