The Vinten PRO-06-HDVF tripod system is a combination of a Pozi-loc tripod, Pro-06 Pan and Tilt head, floor spreader and soft carry case. This system was designed to work with small camcorders weighing less than 13.2 lbs. Offering continuously variable fluid drag, exceptional rigidity and a fully adjustable spreader; this system allows the user great functionality in a matched system.

- Quick Setup
- The leveling bowl has a double threaded screw shank, which allows the bowl lock to be tightened and released quickly. Very handy when you are constantly adjusting the bowl to level the camera (especially on uneven terrain).

Purchased this unit for an XL-2. Been using Vinten tripods for full-size cameras (ENG, EFP and Studio) and have always been a fan. With their quality, a price has always been attached.
I was pleased to see that this unit is built very similarly to their big brothers at a fraction of the price. The unit is sturdy, smooth, and well balanced. I feel right at home with this unit as I did with the other units. The carbon fiber legs are a plus.
The head design is slightly different than the units I've used previously. The lock and unlock handle and friction adjustments are a bit different, but I think I like them better. I had to set the counter balance to the highest setting for the XLR, but it handles it just fine. This unit has counter-balance steps verus the variable adjustment found on more expensive heads. Not a huge compromise. The head has plenty of friction adjustments and is smooth to operate. I did notice a tiny bit of drift which was only noticeable when fully zoomed in on something.
This is a full kit: legs, head are included bag. The only thing I wish it had was a shoulder strap to attach to the tripod itself. Normally this is an option on any of the units, so it's not a big deal.

Thought because of the good name, this would be a solid system for smaller cameras. The system is built well and has a solid support. The legs are lightweight and rugged. The head has nice adjustments and the mounting plate is sound with good camera weight adjustment. But, the head "sticks" in both horizontal and vertical positions even when both locks are disengaged. In "long" lens situations, you will only get "jerky" shots. I gave it a 3 star rating only because the legs are great. Looks like I'll get another head for these legs. Beware!
