The QuickCam Pro 9000 USB 2.0 Webcam from Logitech is a compact web camera that connects to your computer via a standard USB 2.0 interface. The camera allows you to participate in web conferencing, record video to your computer, and take still images. An integrated microphone allows you to capture audio. - Not only does the camera feature a true 2 megapixel sensor that allows you to capture images at a native resolution, it also features software enhancements to let you take up to 8 MP stills. The image quality is much better than any other webcam I have used or seen before. The lens is made of glass and has an autofocus feature that is pretty good. Of course, don't expect photo quality (the image struggles in harsh unequal lighting, for example), but compared to other webcams, it is obviously far better (especially in the sharpness).Said differently: it is not to be used as a digital camera, as it is not the appropriate purpose of such a device.I do not use the built-in microphone, so I cannot comment on it. There are various special features supplied by the webcam software (such as auto-tracking zoom, funny face tracking overlays), but they get old fast.The mechanism to fix the camera to the screen is awkward, but "it works". I'm sure there could be improvements made there--in particular, the fixture only allows to adjust the vertical axis.A red light shows up when the camera is in use, which is useful, but I would much prefer a manual plastic cover to block the lens when not in use--you never know...The place where this product is more problematic is in the drivers department. The installation is simple and efficient, but leaves your computer cluttered with many background processes that launch during the boot sequence. Nothing really surprising--companies don't seem to understand that a given product is not going to be used 100% of the time, and should be making software that runs "on demand", but I am digressing...There is one serious compatibility issue with the device drivers (Windows simply won't boot while the device is connected to the computer--you have to unconnect it, boot, and then plug it again, which is VERY annoying) for users of virtual drive managers like "Daemon Tools"/"Alcohol 120%". Searching the web reveals that a large number of users have reported this issue and Logitech has not invested any effort in trying to resolve it. Here's the fix: you simply have to update your "SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD) layer" [@]

Webcam is used with Skype for video calls. Chose this product because it gives very good picture quality as the originating source before Skype processes it for transmission. This replaced a similar Logitech webcam that failed after about five years of use.Product delivers very good picture quality and it has a built in microphone that delivers good sensitivity and sound quality.Logitech webcam software is troublesome and requires about five to seven minutes to install from the provided CD. After about a week, a pop up appeared offering download of a software update. Size of download file was quite small but it took better than five minutes to download through a very wideband internet connection. First attempt reported an internet disconnection and a message popped up advising that I try again later. This message continuously popped in and out and I could not shut it off, even by rebooting the computer. Clicking the tray icon to restart the download failed and I had to reboot the computer to be able to restart the update download. After the second download succeeded, installation got to 45% complete after about four minutes and then locked up the computer. After restarting the computer, I uninstalled all Logitech webcam software and successfully reinstalled the webcam again from scratch using the CD provided. Summary, the Logitech webcam software is troublesome. I will not attempt to download an update again.

I purchased this camera to use in a very small seminary so that some of our commuter students could take classes via Skype. Some are in the USA, and some are overseas.
Our classrooms are not very large, but not so tiny either. The problems we had prior to getting this camera were that the built-in cameras in the laptops we had were insufficient for the students calling in to feel like full participants in their classes or to be able to see images projected on a white board or something an instructor wrote, etc.
Plus we had major difficulties with sound. Our microphones never seemed to work properly. Both instructors and students were frustrated and dissatisfied.
After one class with the new webcam everyone agreed that we'd found our solution!
We've now bought three more and are installing them throughout the building so that all our classrooms where this technology will be used can be fully outfitted at all times.
We are quite pleased, obviously.

I've owned these 2 Quick Cams for a couple of weeks now and can't beleive the quality of video streaming . Very easy to install , I'm using skype [ skype is free to all skype subscribers ] to video call my son who lives over 40 miles away the picture and sound is so clear it's like he's in the same room as us . I have them hooked up to high def computers , can't wait to hook them up to a smart tv and get life size picture in high def the future is now here . We bought this camera for our Sparkbooth photobooth at our wedding last week (my laptop doesn't have a camera) and it worked great! It's easy to install/use, the mount is awesome and doesn't move and the pics turned out great. (I've also been using it with skype.) I would highly recommend.

I just use it to talk with my friends online.
I like that it was easy to set up and start using. The avatar characters are also fun to play with occasionally. No problems so far.
The only thing that's a little disappointing is that it lags a bit. That could just be because of the computer, or the internet connection, I don't know. Also, the picture isn't as clear as I thought it would be, but that could be because of the lighting. All in all, it is a good camera and works for what I need it.

I use this for work to visually collaborate with various partners. It is a very easy to use/install camera with excellent video quality. The face recognizing technology that the camera uses for the various avatars is good - but not great. But I don't use the avatars very much any way.
Otherwise, this is a great camera which works very well with GMail!!!

I did not download the Logitech VID software because I wanted to use Skype software. It was easy to set up and the picture is very clear. The auto focus works well when there is light on the subject. The sound is clear and you can easily minimize feedback by turning the main computer volume setting low and the Skype volume setting high.

The camera was easy to set up, though would not work with the Logitech Vid software. After downloading Skype I have had no problems. The camera works well in low light conditions, the mike picks up conversations well and I am pleasantly surprised by how good the video chat experience is. Seeing my grandkids and playing with them on line--priceless!
