Iomega 33872 Overview

The StorCenter 1 TB Network Hard Drive from Iomega is a high-capacity drive with an interface that allows it to be connected via wired Gigabit Ethernet or 802.11g Wireless Ethernet and RAID data protection.

In addition to providing simple network storage, the StorCenter can serve as a network server for up to two USB printers or USB 2.0 storage devices. You can also use the hard drive in conjunction with a Digital Media Adapter to stream video, music, or photos directly to your home entertainment system without the need for an additional computer.

The drive is easily integrated into your network, making it easy to share files among users. The included Iomega Automatic Backup Pro software even allows you to back up data from your network. These features make it an excellent solution for media streaming, data backup, or general storage in small networks.

1 TB Capacity
1 TB of capacity allows for storage of approximately 75 hours of uncompressed DV digital video, the equivalent of 212 4.7 GB DVD video discs, or up to 250,000 MP3 files.
RAID Data Protection
The StorCenter can be configured in RAID 0, RAID 1, or JBOD configurations. RAID 0 provides the fastest access to your data and full 1 TB storage capacity, but offers no protection in the event of an internal disk failure. RAID 1 mirrors all the data, cutting the storage capacity in half, but ensuring that data will be intact if a drive fails. JBOD, "Just a Bunch of Disks," shows each individual drive in the enclosure as a volume.
Gigabit Ethernet Interface
The standard Ethernet interface allows users to access data and administrators to remotely administer the drive through a standard LAN connection, making it easy to add to your existing network infrastructure.
Media Streaming
The StorCenter allows for media streaming support via the UPnP protocol, allowing you to easily stream video, photos and music to your home entertainment system when used in conjunction with a Digital Media Adapter device. This further blurs the line between your computer and your home theatre system.
