Nikon S510 Overview

The Nikon Coolpix S510 Digital Camera features an elegant stainless steel body, 3x Zoom-Nikkor glass lens, plus several imaging innovations designed to encourage carefree shooting. It incorporates Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization, to overcome camera shake and ensure sharp photos at shutter speeds up to three times slower than would normally be possible, and also incorporates a High ISO of ISO 2000l for capturing images in low-light situations.

The camera features Nikon In-Camera Innovations that include In-Camera Red-Eye Fix that automatically detects and corrects red eye, a common condition that occurs in flash photography, D-Lighting which compensates for excessive back-light or insufficient flash in images, and Nikon's enhanced Face-Priority AF that can automatically finds and focuses on up to 12 people's faces within one frame. This feature also provides faster speed and sharper focus to produce clear, crisp portraits wherever the subjects are positioned in the frame.

Advanced performance is particularly pronounced in this camera, delivering remarkably fast response including a start-up time of less than one second, and a shutter lag of 5 milliseconds. Furthermore, Nikon's EXPEED processing engine gives the S510 enhanced image processing and brilliant color reproduction. Finally, the camera has a bright, high resolution 2.5-inch LCD monitor with an anti-reflective coating, easing the composition of photos, even in direct sunlight.

8.1 Megapixel Resolution
With 8.1 million pixels of image information, the Nikon Coolpix S500 can produce stunning, photo quality prints up to 20" x 30".
3x Optical Zoom-Nikkor Lens
The high quality Zoom Nikkor Lens provides a 3x optical zoom (35mm-105mm equivalent) while the Macro capability lets you get as close as 5.9" to your subject. The lens also has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 for improved low light shooting.
Optical VR (Vibration Reduction) Image Stabilization
The lens of the Coolpix S510 incorporates Nikon's optical lens shift VR (Vibration Reduction) system, which compensates for camera movements to produce sharper, steadier images. And because the VR system remains active whenever the camera is on, images also appear more stable on the LCD monitor, making it much easier to judge the right moment to take the shot.

Nikon In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, D-Lighting, and Face-Priority AF
The Red-Eye Fix system automatically corrects for most instances of the red-eye effect that is commonly caused by the use of a built-in flash on a compact camera. The D-Lighting feature can rescue underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight by automatically brightening the dark areas in the picture, while maintaining the brighter areas of the image. The Face-Priority AF system automatically detects and achieves sharp focus on people's faces wherever they are in the frame for crisp, sharp portraits.
One-touch Portrait Button
The handy Portrait Button provides direct access to Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, and Nikon's D-Lighting, to provide the simplest path to astounding portraits and posed group shots.
15 Scene Modes
The Coolpix S510 incorporates 15 scene modes that cover some of the more common difficult shooting situations to maximize the image quality. The scene modes automatically adjust focus, exposure, white balance and other settings to make getting a good exposure easy.
Movie and Voice Recording
Shoot TV-quality (640x480 @ 30 fps) QuickTime movies with sound with the clip length limited only by the available space on the internal memory or your memory card. The Voice Memo Function Records up to 20 seconds of sound that can then be attached to an image.
Auto Image Rotation
The Auto Image Rotation feature detects pictures that have been taken with the camera held vertically and automatically rotates the image for in-camera LCD playback.
Rotary Multi Selector
The Rotary Multi Selector enables easier camera use. Swift circular scrolling action allows speedy image browsing at up to 10 pictures per second, and a range of buttons ensures intuitive operation. An onscreen icon with a cursor that tracks Rotary Multi Selector scrolling makes it easy to select various features.
Built-in and Expandable Memory
The camera includes 52MB of built-in memory so you can begin taking shots immediately without having to purchase a memory card, and the memory capacity can be expanded dramatically with Secure digital (SD) or Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards.
Bright 2.5-inch LCD
The Coolpix S500 is equipped with a bright 2.5" LCD that is great for viewing images anywhere, anytime. The impressive 230,000 pixel resolution of the display makes your images look bright and sharp while the anti-reflective coating reduces glare so the display is easier to view in bright light.
Print Directly to a Printer or Show Pictures on a TV
You can send images directly to print, without the need of a PC, when using PictBridge and USB Direct Print compatible printers, or connect directly to your TV for family slide shows and presentations.
