HD DVD Playback
High Definition video requires a tremendous amount of space on a disc, thus a Blue laser (versus a Red Laser for DVD) is utilized for HD DVD. The blue laser, with its shorter wavelength, allows for information to be stored more densely on the disc, thus improving storage capacity by about over 3 times compared to that of a red laser technology.
High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
The HD-A3 features an HDMI output, capable of upconverting video signals to 720p and 1080i. This technology enables the HD-A3 to carry the HD audio and video information through a single cable and achieving the highest quality picture and clearest sound available.
Built-in Multi-Channel Audio Decoders
The HD-A3 has built-in processors to handle the multi-channel decoders for Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS and DTS-HD (core only). It employs the use of four DSPs to decode the multi-channel streams of the wide array of audio formats.
Progressive Scan Capability
The HD-A3 is a progressive scan DVD player, capable of scanning an entire video frame at once; scan-lines commonly associated with interlaced video are drastically reduced. The result is a spectacularly clear image with no motion artifacts (stair-stepping), and details so sharp they seem as if they're etched onto the screen.
Component Output
The HD-A3 achieves greater color accuracy and high resolution playback capability when connected via the component output to your projector, plasma and/or LCD/CRT televisions.
Multi-Format Player
Don't worry about limited playback capabilities, the HD-A3 can play DVD Video, DVD-R/W, DVD-R DL, DVD-VR, HD-DVD Video, CD, CD-R, and CD-RW.
Backward Compatibility
The HD-A3 is backward-compatible, enabling playback of all your favorite DVDs and CDs in HD resolution.
Ethernet Connection
A built-in Ethernet connection enables the HD-A3 to be updated with future applications and services.
