Sturdy little gadet that works like it should. The one thing i would recomend if you buy this version is to update the software to the iPhone software even if it is [$] from iTunes. With the iPhone software it's pretty much a handy little pocket pc. I love the app download capability with all those free apps you can download like games, weather, music creation apps, and tons more! The screen is impressively tough and responsive even after being out in the dirt and grind of wildland firefighting. The only thing i dislike greatly (i'm kinda picky when it comes to sound) is no custom eq setting. But that's normal with the ipod.

I have several other IPODs but the TOUCH is like having a mini computer. It's a great device. It's an excellent MP3 and video player, but I've been MOST impressed with the WiFi internet browser and email utility. For the first time, Apple has produced a highly user-friendly and stable ultra-portable internet device. The best part about the Touch is that its an "instant on" device. If I'm watching television or having a discussion and want to look up a reference, I push the button and I'm immediately able to access my home wireless network. The touch screen use of gestures to zoom in and out means that I can read the text, even though I wear glasses.
I purchased the 16GB size with the recommended kit this was perfect, things you need to buy anyway.

Cons: This is an iPod so the obvious restrictions of using iTunes and very limited file support is apparent. Also, the size options are rather low but using SSD instead of a HDD keeps the form factor small. That's pretty much where the cons end.
Pros: With the 2.0 firmware and access to the App Store, I felt comfortable using this as my music player and PDA. I have been very happy with the results. As a music player, the interface is very slick and gives you access to all the features you need. As a PDA, you have access to great applications and more are added daily. You will feel a little "new adopter" pain when you look for mature applications, but give it 3-6 months and the iPhone/iPod Touch will be a very robust platform.

I've had this for a few weeks now and can truly say this device is superb. Wi-Fi works well, connects easily (even to my security enabled network at home). Great intuitive interface, great free aps available, great device all around.
Now for the cons: it is pricey and battery life is pretty good, not great. After a couple of days with little or moderate use, I find I have to connect and power back up. I don't have a huge library of music or videos, but see this device is about half full already with stuff. I guess I'll just have to delete some of the videos or apps that I don't use regularly. But other than that, the device is spot on. Highly recommend.

Screen resolution is fantastic and I hear it even plays music... although I use that feature the least! 16GB is plenty of space, save your money.
