I've had one of these for years. Here are things to know:
1.) The setup is easy if you have a simple network set up at home. My network consists of a wireless router daisy-chained through a VOIP router. That makes for some messy hooking-up.
2.) This unit does not have wifi built-in. If you are prepared for that ahead of time, no worries. I run mine through a secured wireless bridge that serves out Internet goodness to my DVR, Roku box, Xbox 360 and Slingbox.
3.) This unit works great on a Mac and a PC computer and on some mobile phones. I have used it on Pocket PC and iPhone. It worked well on my Pocket PC PDA and Samsung (Windows Smartphone) but very spotty on the iPhone. I didn't notice in the documentation that the iPhone app prefers the HD versions of Slingbox until after I bought the app for $30. Meh. Shame on me for not reading. Shame on Slingbox for not supporting the Solo. When it does manage to connect on the iPhone, it only connects via wifi, not 3G. If you know that going into it and are ok with it, it's no big deal... just know that with the Solo, the iPhone app takes a while to finally connect and it's not 100% every time.
4.) There's a good deal of delay between sending the command and actually seeing the command. It's not that big a deal, just be aware that trying to fast forward or rewind on a DVR or DVD is tricky to get the timing right. You won't get it right.
You're already watching the video on a buffered 20 second delay (which increases slightly over the course of viewing time) and there's a good 5-10 second delay from the time you send the signal and the time the box receives it. Like I said, it's not an enormous deal and is forgivable/livable, considering the conditions of the benefit you're receiving... just something to be aware of.
5.) Tons of people have asked me so I'll just mention it here: there's no monthly or annual fee.
6.) This model is SD... you probably already knew that.
Overall, I love the Slingbox Solo and sing its praises (except for the poor accessibility with the iPhone app).

This is the second one I have purchased. Once working it is a great product. Only thing that is bad is customer service of Slingbox it self. They expect you to pay for tech support after 90 days and the first one I had died conveniently after an update they pushed out. I cant prove the update they pushed out killed my slingbox but there are multiple people on the slingbox forums whos device failed after the update.
Also it is a device for remote viewing of your tv but it must be configured on your local LAN. Do not do any upgrade unless you can remote into a computer on the same LAN the slingbox is on. You would think they would figure out a way to be able to configure it remotely.
But other then the complaints above when it works its great.

Did what I expected. Had a little trouble setting it up at first but once I took some time learning the equipment, everything else was a breeze. Now I regret not getting the Slingbox Pro.

You must have an Internet connection of 10 mb to have a reasonable picture. It is for those who really do not want to lose your favorite program. Does not work on an intranet.

Recently purchased my Slingbox to stream video to my Motorola Atrix for the purpose of watching the NBA Finals. After setting the box up to my DirecTv receiver (which was very easy and quick), I downloaded the Slingbox app and began watching immediately. Even though the video gets choppy at times, I am satisfied at the ability and convenience of watching whatever I want on the go. I would recommend this product as an alternative to paying a per month subscription.

Great device, excellent features. A little bit to get used to networking wise but well worth the efforts. I stream to my DROID X.
PQ is pretty good, better on Vista and XP than 7, probably will be addressed by Sling soon enough.
Controls FIOS DVR flawlessy too. :-)
Support forums and tech support very helpful.

this devise delivers average quality video to your laptop and Iphone.. of course to enjoy a TV show without buffering you need a good network with great broad band and fast internet.. I strongly recommend the next level of slingbox, the slingbox HD if you really want to broadcast your TV signal to your portable devices..You still have a little bit of buffering issue but the video quality and audio are fantastic

Comments about Sling Media Slingbox Solo Internet TV Broadcaster:
Unfortunately, mine came with no instructions (in English, at least..the manual was in French only), but fortunately the website was very easy to navigate to figure out how to set up my box, both for viewing from a web browser as well as running the standalone client.
One thing to check before you buy: does your source device (DVR, etc.) support the connections you want? My DVR wouldn't allow HDMI to coexist with any other output, so I ended up having to fool it into allowing the component video outs to work (they were disabled), then connecting my slingbox inline between my DVR and my TV using those. Not the fault of the Slingbox, just my stupid cable company and their paranoid DCMA settings.
Also, you'll need a decent upload speed on your network connection for this to work, which is also not a fault of this device, just a matter of fact.

Comments about Sling Media Slingbox Solo Internet TV Broadcaster:
The resolution, especially when expanded to full screen, leaves something to be desired. A smaller frame (about 4x6 inches) is fine to watch a game. If you want anything bigger, and if you have high-speed internet capabilities, you should strongly consider the Slingbox-Pro. I don't have one for comparison, but it is likely the way to go if you want to watch a bigger screen picture with some semblance of high resolution TV viewing.

The Slingbox Solo delivered on everything they advertised. Wanted to transfer my Verizon FIOS TV to another location while I was on vacation. The set up was easy, the interface is great to include the exact model of the remote I use with my motorola cable box.
Worked better than I could have imagined.

I hooked it up just before I went back to school. It was easy to set up and works flawlessly. I can now watch Fios on my computer while away at school! I even connected my laptop to a flat screen TV and it's just like watching it at home.
Great product and easy to use.

Comments about Sling Media Slingbox Solo Internet TV Broadcaster:
Works great. Picture quality is excellent. Better than an older tube tv, but slightly worse than HD. Sports are a bit choppy looking in full screen mode. The one drawback is that you have to connect to both the router and the cable box, so if they are not in the same place you are out of luck without an adapter, sold separately.
