I've used this housing on 6 dives, and have been extremely happy with it. It's compact and appears well made, and gives me easy access to all my camera controls. I'd recommend it to anyone starting out in underwater photography.

i bought this cause i was tired of buying disposable waterproof cameras that produce horrible pics and not to mention running out of film so quickly. i thought about getting a waterproof digital but people i know who have them said they have leaked and suggested not to get them. i used mine for snorkeling and taking surfing pics (i was not the person surfing).

i am very pleased with this housing as it doesn't change the clarity of picture thru the lens cover. pictures come out as if there was nothing in front of lens (unless you have a fingerprint or something). it's probably as small as it can be but still too big to take surfing (if you are going to keep it on you while you surf). it is very portable to take anywhere and pretty durable. i didn't take it to deep depths or use the flash diffuser. as you go deeper you will need to use flash as colors get deflected by the water.

if you take a lot of water pics, i'd get this verses buying the disposable waterproof cameras. you can take as much pictures as you want and not worry of bad pics.

i gave it 4 stars cause not sure how the diffuser works and use at deep depths.

I use the housing while kayak fishing in Hawaii. The rigid housing assures me that my camera can get knocked around without any damage. Canon housings are well built and worth the price. No regrets buying the WP-DC17.

Used this with the Canon SD870IS camera, and it worked fine. Well constructed and Canon includes silicone grease for the seal. I didn't buy the weight kit, which meant the case/camera were positively buoyant, however that didn't present any issues in usage.

Just got back from Hawaii, I previously owned the housing for powershot S500 and then I upgraded cameras to SD870IS and the shots were so much better on this camera. The wide angle and also the underwater feature were great. Use the diffuser for close up shots or else part of your subject will be lit, since the flash is close to the focusing ring. Great all around and easy to hold. only hickup is the diffuser should be built into the case.

Housing is great! I have use it during snorkeling, and it is far better then I have expected from amateur underwater housing! Colors are great, very intense and truthful! Pictures are very sharp both in water and on the ground. Housing is very easy to operate, functions very quickly.

love this one, small and compact, doesn't get in the way of my dive
tried it out in a pool only
thinking about getting the separate weights for the dive
has a neck strap only, needs onr for the hand so i wont loose in underwater.

This case was everything I hoped for and more! I have used it SCUBA diving at depths down to 60ft with absolutely no problems. The most amazing thing about this enclosure is how easy it is to use. Every single button, feature, and setting on the camera is still available and easily accessible while the camera is in the case.

This case is awesome. I have rafted down class five rapids in West Virgina, kayaked in sea caves in San Diego, jumped off of 40 foot waterfalls, and smashed into rocks under water and this case is still like brand new. It beats of sand, dirt, and water from the camera and is totally worth it if you want the camera to stay alive.

My only beef with the case is that it will sink if you don't have it tied off and if you have it tied to yourself it most likely will hit you in the face. Ouch. I got some foam to tie to the strap so it floats on it own.

Being that an underwater housing for my EOS 30D was quite prohibitive, I opted to go for a housing for my wife's SD870SI (a great little camera).

On a recent vacation to Key Largo, my decision was justified. Snorkeling at Cannon Beach in Pennekamp State Park, there were loads of fish within easy reach. Some are so "tame" you can almost touch them.

The photos were excellent. A little help from PhotoShop to do a bit of color correction was all that was required. We have many rememberences of our trip.

Great price [...]. The case is very simple to use with access to all the controls. I took it diving with me the first week, snorkeling, and general beach activites, and it has been priceless. I would have loved it if the instructions had a few more scuba diving specific instructions (like greasing the gasket and anti-fogging guidelines), but that's easily found with a quick internet search. Very recommended.

This housing fits the camera like a glove and is exceedingly simple to use. A little silicon grease on the rubber seal and you're good to go! I took this housing snorkeling and diving in the US Virgin Islands and Tortola. Snorkeling for about 4 hours at depths of 0 to 20ft. 2 scuba dives: 1 for about an hour with a max of 80 feet, 1 for about an hour with a max of 40 feet.
The housing never leaked and all the camera functions are easily accessible. The only negative comment is that the lens port should have a cover on it to prevent scratching/damage. This is definitely annoying but can be overcome by being careful. If I should ever crack this housing, you can be sure that I'll get another one for the same price. For the price, you can't get a better housing. Canon has done a good job.

I've only tested the case in the bathtub so far. It performed flawlessly. No leaks, easy to use and the case itself looks cool. Haven't had it long enough to say anything bad about it but so far so good. Love it

got this for my recent scuba diving trip. I'm extremely excited by the photos I took.

The housing worked well, buttons easy to press and to control the camera. No problems with waterproofing. Super!

This cover worked great while on vaction at the pool. No more worries about getting your camera wet. The underwater pictures came out great. The functions of the camerea were still very easy to use when in the case. It made a small camera seem a little bulky but the resutlts were worth it. Lots of great comments from others on my new set up. I did not have to remind everyone don't splash or you'll get the camera wet.
