The lens seems well built and carries some weight which I like with lenses.
It attaches easily to the front of the camera and is showing no signs of distortion on edges with images. If you film in spaces with limited room this is a great buy.

I like the lens, but would like it wider. Of course, it would be more expensive then. And you might not be able to zoom through it. Because of it's large size, there should be threads on the front for a UV filter. I'm always worried about scratching the lens. It is heavy, but not unbearable. There is some barrel distortion, but with the right framing it's not bad. I didn't notice an softening of the image when zooming.

This lens will allow you to get a decent shot in tight locations, like filming in cars, lifts, taxis, etc. The built in lens on an EX1/EX3 simply isn't wide enough, but thanks to this lens, that isn't a problem anymore.

This lens produces good quality images with low chromatic aberration and good clarity/optical resolution.

This lens also allows zoom-through, which many competitors' lenses do not allow for.

I'm really happy with this lens. I'm so happy with it I bought three.

This gives the EX1 extra versatility for tight shots and for steady hand-holding of tracking shots. A bit heavy, but the bigger battery on the back helps compensate. Optically, the lens is great and integrates flawlessly with the camera. The only drawback, as mentioned in other reviews, is that you can't use a filter (like a polarizer) because there is no front thread. I does not come with a lens case, which needs to be purchased separately.

The quality of this is surprisingly good considering it is about half the price of the other EX1/EX3 zoom thorough wide angles. I use this adapter on the camera the vast majority of the time since the distortion is minimal. Definitely worth getting a shoulder rig if you're planning on shooting handheld with this lens attached though... preferably one with a rear counterweight system. Downside is that the diameter of this lens is a whopping 112mm, making it almost impossible to find a mattebox or sunshade that will fit... no filtration here! All around, a good lens though.

I am currently producing a documentary about a miners' struggle in central California which is being shot with a Sony EX-1 HD videocamera. The 0.8x wide angle lens adapter has been invaluable in capturing shots of support marches, confrontations of the miners with scabs who are replacing their jobs, lines of police holding guns and tear gas canisters, etc.
I could never have gotten these shots with just the built in camera lens. Thank you for this wonderful product.

The quality shows in the image, certainly gives you a wider image. There is slight distortion in the extremes though but not enough not to buy it.

This is a must have for the PMW-EX1 or EX3. The Standard Fujinon lens is great, but often not wide enough for some shooting situations.

I used the Sony Wide Angle Lens with my EX1 to shoot a documentary at the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. For big crowd or establishing shots, this lens is a fantastic, high quality addition to my camera. While the fit is a little fussy, once secure it's a natural extension of the fixed lens. It's makes the compact EX1 front heavy but it's still a light and easy shooting setup.
