I was recently looking for a pack that would carry both my Canon 5D and an assortment of lenses plus my MacBook Pro. I hit pay dirt with the Fastpack 350.I had read several reviews prior to purchasing this pack and in fact had actually looked and touched an Adventure 9 by Tamrac. What sold me on the Fastpack was the ease of removing the camera from the case when needed without fear that everything else would fall out.It definitely lived up to its billing as on a recent trip to New England I was able to carry the Canon 5D (with Battery Grip BG-E4), 3 lenses (28-200, 100-400L, 16-35L), 550EX Flash, Canon Optura 500, Garmin nuvi 750 and an assortment of chargers and cords (the organizing pouch is great), the MacBook Pro, Bose QC2 headphones, sunglasses and umbrella.Yes, it was heavy, but what do you expect with all the gear that was in it. The suspension system easily and comfortably handled all the weight. On most excursions I removed any unneeded items and was able to wear the pack all day long with no discomfort. Lastly, the mode of access is GREAT! You can easily stash the camera with lens attached and at a moments notice remove it from the pack for a quick shot. I was glad I purchased this item. I have lots of other Lowe's photo packs but I've got to say that this has been one of the best. The only con is that you can definitely overload this pack with all the space offered. And one last thing - it fits perfectly in the overhead compartment. The reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating, is that I'd like to see a separate compartment in the CPU area for files/folders.

Small Camera Compartment For Its Size
Bought this to carry M/F gear (like my RB67 body with 2 lenses, 1 mounted) a couple of 120 backs, and a Polaroid back, light meter, film, etc.

Bought this to carry M/F gear (like my RB67 body with 2 lenses, 1 mounted) a couple of 120 backs, and a Polaroid back, light meter, film, etc.
The plan was for it to double as a storage or transport-only bag for moving gear to base station (hotel room, shoot site, etc.) The actual padded photo compartment is only just a little larger than my SlingShot-200AW, so it's too small for all the uses mentioned above. I guess I didn't vet this carefully enough, and was sold mainly by it's overall dimensions and the gimmick side-access flap. There is a top compartment (unpadded) that adds capacity for unbreakable items, like food, clothing, books, and so on. The laptop slot will hold my HP 17" lappy ok, but I doubt I'd want to carry it on a walkabout -- it would be ok to travel or transport to a base once again.
The features are generally pretty good, like most of Lowepro's products; strong construction, plenty of straps, etc. A few of the quick-lock buckles are too small for me to operate easily -- esp. the ones on the front over the flap, and the chest strap; the rest are sized ok. Opening the flap for complete access to the gear is too involved for quick action. It works OK as a smaller capacity backpack with no frame.
I wouldn't recommend this model, but LowePro makes other great bags!

This is a really sturdy backpack. I use it with the Canon 5D Mark II. I'm able to store A LOT of stuff in this thing. Camera, 2-3 lenses, batteries, cards, chargers, filters, small light -- you name it, if you need it to use your camera, it will fit in this bag. Zippers seem very sturdy, and the ability to hope up the bottom (where the camera/lenses go) without everything else falling out is great. You can really strap this thing on, too, as it has both waist and chest straps in addition the shoulder straps.

this seems like a great bag but it was just a little to big for my preferences. The side camera access was exactly what I was looking for but it isn't as easy to get into the top pocket because it upzips from the backside. I ended up switching to a smaller bag.

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):
I was looking for a bag which can carry my canon 350D camera with 100-400mm L lens. I also go for hikings where I have to spend a day or two outside, so I wanted my bag to carry some stuff so that I dont't have to carry any additional bags! This is just that kind of bag. The camera compartment has sufficient space to hold my:
* 350D with 100-400mm-L lens attached (without mounting hood),
* a standard 18-55 mm kit lens,
* a 55-250mm standard zoom lens,
* a UV filer,
* a Polarizer
* 2 memory cards,
* a battery + charger,
* a set of macro converter (4 pieces),
* a remote.
The upper compartment too has a decent size and can accommodate several things. The good thing about the compartment is the items inside it can be organized in a neat manner. The laptop compartment is also huge and can easily take my 15.6" laptop. In case if you don't have to take laptop this space can be utilized for other specific items. And unlike many other bags it has a water bottle holder!
The most impressive thing about the bag is its ergonomics. It is remarkably comfortable even for a long distance hike. I am not the one who has used too many bags before but this is by far the most comfortable one.
If I have to scrutinize, then the only drawback I can come up with is the lack of tripod mount. But at this prize range most of bags don't provide it.
In short its a great bag to own!

I went into the NY store to get a hands on feel for products I was going to order online to be shipped to my home address in California. With this bag it was love at first sight! Everything I wanted in a bag I could carry around with me. Room for my 17 inch macbook pro, my canon 7D, my 24-105mm L series and my 17-55mm USM lens. Plus enough nifty little pockets for cf cards, batteries etc. It's very well built. Access is hard for potential thieves, but easy for daily users - the HDSLR filmmakers on the go.

Bag itself is a bit heavy and large but nice feature to have a laptop space on the side. I wish compartment for camera and accessories is a bit smaller so that there are more room for other stuff. It's pricey too.

This backpack is really roomy. It has a lot of space. I compared prices on B&H to other vendors, and B&H's price was far better. I did have to send the bag back for a smaller size ONLY because it was more bag and a lot larger than the photo portrays which makes it a really good deal.

The only thing I have a problem with, is the bags compartment for the camera. It seems like it has a little bit too much room, almost enough for the camera t bounce around in there. Other than that the bag is great. PLenty of room for other equipment and enough room for multiple lenses. The thing that sold me was the fact that there is a spot for a laptop.

Very comfortable on back and easy to use. But I do notice that when swinging around to front to get camera out while pack is still on, it is not as easy to use as the Slingshot. Seems like it wants to fall off shoulder.
But overall great bag to use with a 70-200 attached.

This was a great backpack that allowed me to carry two dSLR cameras with lenses attached, plus my spare lenses. It has sufficient room in the top compartment to put my Canon 50D with battery pack and a smaller lens. My new 17.3" laptop fits nicely into the laptop slot, but tightly. I can carry my 7D with 400mm lense in the bottom.
My only wish would be that there were a few more pockets to carry extra "stuff", maybe on the sides. Some straps on the side without the water bottle carrying slot would help for strapping on a tripod or coat. I imagine the manufacturers are trying to keep the weight down but this was the only backpack that I could find in this size that I could carry everything I needed when I go out for a photo walk. Enjoying it so far.

I recently bought this pack to harbor my newly purchased investment, a Canon 5D Mark II. I like its sleek, clean, and smart design (it doesn't look like a camera bag, which is probably a good thing), and the various separated compartments for holding various accessories and supplies. The size of it is nice as it is not too small, yet not too bulky. Shoulder and lumbar support straps make it fairly easy to carry a load for lengths of time. My only criticism is that the compartment that holds the camera body and lenses could have been a little better designed as I found it hard to cram in two bodies, three lens, and a speedlite. Other than that, I'd highly recommend this bag to anyone who lives a fast-paced and on-the-go lifestyle like myself.

Huge Bag!!! but holds alot!! I owned the Fastpack 250, and when I upgraded my laptyop to a 17'' model, immediatly upgraded my bag to the 350. Exact same bag, but seems sooo much bulker for that extra 2'' on the laptop compartment. All other inner dimensions are iddentical, and holds all the same gear. It just seems so much bigger on my bag, and the weight difference is significant. However if I want to take my 17'' HP Envy with me, along with my camera gear and other miscelanious items, this is the bag!! I don't think there is another solution out there
