Corruption Issues - Slow - Unreliable

I bought this as a backup for my higher end CF cards. It was 1/3 the price and based on reviews it seemed like a bargain. Unfortunately I have had many issues with it.
Right out of the box I popped it in and shot a few photos. On the second photo I got a CF read/write error. I figured that maybe it was because I didn't format the card first (something I have never had to do with a higher end card) so I formatted. Things seemed to have worked after that until I got to photo 150. At 150 I had the same issues. I pulled the card out of the camera and reinstalled it and the error went away until another 5 shots later. When I downloaded the images off the card about 1/3 of them were corrupt and could not be read. I reformatted a few more times and was able to get the card to fill to about 90% with images before having an error. At about 75% full the remaining shots counter on my camera went from 150 to 9999 so something happened with the communication and the camera was unable to figure out the total space of the card. Once at 90% the card stopped filling and gave me a CF read/write error again. When I downloaded the images off the card about 10% of the photos were corrupt and could not be opened.
The read/write (I/O) speed of the card is about half that of my Lexar Pro of the same speed. My camera takes a burst of 9 images and then hit it's buffer. On my Lexar pro's I have yet to fill the buffer even when shooting high speed sine the Lexar's read / write speed is faster. On this card I hit the buffer very quickly but both this card and the Lexar claim to be 133x speed but clearly this card is much slower.
Overall I will not be buying this card again or recommend it. It is cheap for a reason and I think I found out why. I've never had a CF card corrupt on me and the worry that it will throw an error at any time is not a comfortable one. I was going to return this but I was worried about privacy issues since when you delete a file the file still remains on the card and I had taken photos of friends and family as test photos. I ended up keeping it and I am simply out the couple of bucks it cost. I will keep it in my bag as a absolute desperate backup since I know I can get at least a few shots on it but I will not trust my serious shooting to it.
On a side note, it seems that with more use it does not corrupt as much. As I said the first few times I used it I could not get past 100 images but after formatting and shooting around 1000 images it seemed to get to the point where I can get it 90% full before it throws an error. I may have gotten a bad card based on other reviews but I won't buy this brand or go cheap again. The Lexars and SanDisks are 2-3 times the cost for a reason.
A good price: just not worth the issues I've had.

It's a good quality card and very durable. I had one go through the wash two years ago. I let it dry in a paper bag with some silica gel, and it still works today. The only down side is when shooting several frames fast it sometimes slows down. I shoot w/a Nikon D200.

I've had five digital cameras, including three that use Compact Flash. I've shot tens of thousands of photos over the last decade. I think I had a card error a few times in the mid-2000s but had not had one in several years. Due to some computer issues, I've been buying additional CF cards rather than saving off the files and reformatting the cards. I bought this Kingston card this summer due to the lower price, along with 3 new SanDisk cards. The new SanDisk cards were now full so I tried this one last. I formatted it as soon as I put it in the camera and had shot about 100 photos over the span of the last week, and then today I took the card on a photo shoot at an arboretum. After taking about 130 more photos (230 total), the camera locked up. After the second time, I got a CF Error message and then my photo shoot was done... no more photos could be taken. When I got home, the card only had 153 images. I am in the process of running a third party card recovery program and so far it looks like it can recover 230 images. So, hopefully I will not actually have lost any of the images. However, I lost the rest of my day at the Arboretum. I saved $20 on this card compared to the SanDisk Elite card that I bought at the same time. Was it worth it? I spent $30 on a card recovery software program and lost the ability to take any more photos. This is not to say that it wouldn't have been possible for this to have happened with the more expensive card, but so far over the last 5+ years, it hasn't. I'm chalking my experience with this card up under the category of "penny wise, pound foolish."

I use it for editorial shooting with a 4gb Kingston sd card as a backup. The cf card is great because it is just the right size for any shoot, whether it be a sporting event or just a speaking engagement. I find that its download time is just the right time because it doesn't take long and I can begin working the images immediately. Kingston makes great products and I will continue buying their products.

These left nothing to be desired, no lagging of the camera (I use a Canon Mark II 5D). Just a great buy, makes it crazy not to throw last year's cards out before they show signs of failure (I shoot 25 weddings a year...)
