The Gary Fong Lightsphere Universal Inverted Dome Flash Diffusion Pro System is a large, round, soft and flexible diffuser that slips over the front of any standard shoe mount flash unit. The inside of the Lightsphere is completely textured to make the light dispersion even "softer" than it would be otherwise. As a result, the material is more translucent, keeping the unit from losing a lot of light while actually increasing the diffusion and softness of light.
An opaque color has been added to the inside of the Cloud version, and this "frosted" version creates an even softer effect, which makes it ideal for close-ups, portraits, and event photography.
The included inverted dome allows you to softly diffuse direct light with a large, soft source without creating flare on the front of your lens.
The included AmberDome warms the light from your electronic flash for shooting outdoors at dusk, or early morning, open shade, interiors with tungsten lighting, and sunsets, with the sun behind the subject.
The included ChromeDome seriously increases the light output, while still keeping the diffusion properties of your flash unit. You will have up to double the power and efficiency, but the look will be identical.

Comments about Gary Fong Lightsphere Universal Inverted Dome Cloud Pro System:
Generally this is a great product. I use it as a standard accessory for Wedding and Special Event photography. It fills the venue with even soft light. What is not so great about it is the fact that over time all of the tabs break off. I have made several attempts to contact Gary Fong regarding this issue and have yet to get a response. I am currently looking at other diffuser makers for a replacement...

Comments about Gary Fong Lightsphere Universal Inverted Dome Cloud Pro System:
I've just used this product during a wedding I shot and so far it works as it is intended. I had a large wedding party and was able to light them sufficiently using the chromedome along with my strobes. It is a little bulky to store in my camera bag and had to carry an extra bag as I didn't have room in my case for it all. But it's lightweight so didn't pose much of a problem. I did like that I didn't have to use my custom bracket (which adds a lot of weight) to take vertical shots.
Will need to use it a bit more to make additional comments on it.

Soft light and great to lift ambient within a room.
Worryingly instruction 1. is to set ISO to 800.
It obviously consumes a lot of power.

Comments about Gary Fong Lightsphere Universal Inverted Dome Cloud Pro System:
I'd heard so much about these diffusers that I thought I'd give it a try so I bought the kit with the clear & cloud diffusers and the various domes. I hate to say it, but to be honest I was pretty disappointed. I got the Universal fit because I have an SB-800 but plan to get an SB-900 soon, and there isn't a dedicated diffuser for the SB-900. The Universal fit is pretty sloppy on the SB-800 and it's not the easiest to install or remove quickly. I can only imagine the struggle in putting it on the larger SB-900. I've read some complaints about the diffuser not gripping the flash very well. If you are very careful, you can get a good grip, it just takes a bit of fussing. As far as the results go, I could only see marginal improvements in most situations, and in most cases I couldn't see any difference other than the reduced light output. I've tried all different settings, distances, and used all combinations of clear vs cloudy, with & without domes, etc. but the results seem inconsistent and unconvincing. Looks dumb as can be too, but I was willing to suffer the embarassment if it really worked. I figure I just haven't mastered the learning curve on this one, so I'll keep playing. But if I had a do-over.... I wouldn't do it. I've spent a small fortune on a ton of pro equipment here at B&H, but this is probably the only product I've ever purchased that's been a disappointment. Sorry Gary.
