Cowon U5 8GB Personal Music Player (Black/Silver)
The U5 from Cowon is a slim and light personal music player with 8GB of quick flash memory. With its 1.8" TFT LCD display, the U5 makes it easy to navigate through all your music files whether MP3, WMV or WAV. The U5 utilizes Cowon's JetEffect to maximize the listening experience of your compressed music files with features such as BBE and MP Enhance. The built-in voice recorder, FM tuner and recorder all contribute to the U5's versatility.

USE: To record FM programsI returned the mp3 player, because it failed to do my primary purpose of buying it for, recording long FM programs. One talk show lasted 4 or 5 hours, but the Cowon U5 malfunctioned. It can turn on at specific times and record for set times then automatically turn off, which is a great function, but when set to stay on continuously til manually turned off, it recorded exactly 5 minutes and 53 seconds. I tried it several times, reloaded the firmware as advised by thier customer service department, but sill the same result. This conpany, Cowon, needs to make sure every feature works before selling it. I don't trust buying their products in the future.The sound was good, but not as super as many of the reviews that I read claimed it was. There are many adjustments to the sound like 5-band equalizer, mack-something, bb-something, and 3-d sound. So, if one likes to play with adjustments, they may like the Cowon U5. It has considerable power; they claim it's 60mW, but I'm not so sure that it's that much. My radio, Sangean DT200V, has 60mW output power, and it gets louder and fuller then the Cowon U5.Overall, I wish my Cowon U5 would have functioned properly, and then I would have kept it and would have been happy with it.

This mp3 player really easy to use.
Little disappointed it the battery life kinda bad.
Says around 24 hrs. I only got out of 10-12 hrs use.
Wouldn't turn on couple of time.. had to plug it up usb then press reset button .
I,m just mad at the battery life...now maybe I should got a d2 instead of this. oh well next time.

I use the u-5 for Personell use. This little unit RIPS !!! I am a music freak and the sound this little device puts out is something to be heard. I shopped hard trying to find the baddest mp-3 player. I was not interested in looking at pics, just music. This unit is top shelf and I dont think you could find a better sounding unit.

I have owned 3 players in the past few years, this the 4th, and I doubt I will ever go back to Sandisk or any of the others. By far the U5 has the best sound. I play .wav files because of the "Lossless" sound and with the U5 it sounds almost exactly like my home system. It is far and away the easiest player to use, holds almost 200 .wav files (8 GB) and sounds like a million bucks. Do not even think about a player until you have experienced the U5 sound !!!

Speaking of easy to use! I plugged this into the USB port of my computer, and it was ready to load the mp3 and wav files I had on my hard drive. The sound quality is great. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out the buttons. The display is nice and clear, and radio reception is excellent. The only criticism I have is about the lopsided wires of the headphones (I wish they were even) and the fact that, after you put the earphone pads on, the L and R markings on the headphones are not visible. Big deal... A+
