- DIGIC III Image Processor with iSAPS Technology
- Canon's DIGIC III Image Processor improves processing speed and image quality, and assures that every image is colorfully vibrant while enabling Canon's Face Detection Technology and Red-eye Correction to give you better, more true-to-life people shots. iSAPS is an entirely original scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the DIGIC III Image Processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance.

- The PowerShot A470 features Face Detection Technology, which finds up to 9 faces in the frame and sets the most suitable focus point. In addition, Face Detection AE adjusts exposure and flash settings to ensure proper illumination of both the faces and the overall scene, eliminating the common problem of darkened or overexposed faces, and Face Detection WB means the camera concentrates upon faces when calculating white balance for the best possible skin tones. In addition, Face Select and Track lets the A470 user highlight one face among several in a scene, and the camera concentrates on that person, even as they move around the scene.

- The advanced Motion Detection Technology works in the background to instantly evaluate how fast your subject is moving. Then it automatically selects and sets the optimal exposure and ISO settings to keep everything looking sharp and clear.

- Simply turn the Mode Dial to the needed setting to handle any shooting condition. Choose from Auto, Manual, Movie, or Special Scene where you can select from settings such as Night, Snow, Indoor, Beach and more to get the best possible image.
- Easy Vertical Shooting
- The PowerShot A470 lets you shoot great Vertical Images more conveniently. Turn the camera, and then just press the Print/Share Button. Instantly, the camera displays your scene in the proper vertical orientation. You don't have to worry about re-arranging your hand position so you're free to concentrate on setting your scene, composing your shot or coaxing subjects to smile.
- Powered By AA-size Batteries
- The camera uses common AA-size batteries that can be purchased at any store so you don't need to worry about running out of batteries or recharging batteries - simply get new ones locally. You can also use economical NiMH Rechargeable AA batteries.
- Easy, Flexible Direct Printing Options
- The Camera supports direct printing using the Canon Direct Print system or the PictBridge system, so you can print without a computer on many different brands and models of printers. The Direct Print feature also allows for image preview and editing (including cropping) on the camera before you begin printing, so your printed pictures are exactly what you need. Also, the Print/Share button is an easy way to transfer images directly to a computer when the camera is connected via the USB cable.

I recently lost my Powershot A550 and was very upset because I loved the camera. I bought this camera without extensive research and I believe that the photos are sharper, easier to compose and a delight. I found that I never used many of the features on the other camera and that this camera has all that I need. Besides, the color is fun. It's a great price and is terrific for the kids in your life who are graduating, batmitzvahs,etc. The size is much more compact and fits into the purse. This is my first digital camera, so I wasn't aware that I needed to purchase, immediately, a larger storage drive. It would only hold 8 pictures, so that was pretty useless. The pictures are not particularly sharp. And the instruction manual is not much help. However, for the price it is a good enough camera and with a larger storage disk, I think it will work well enough for birthday party pictures.

Good camera to keep in car, bag or purse. Husband takes snow machining and uses video feature. Daughter captures college memories and e-mails some of them to share with family. I use to record plants in garden and to remember how yard will look when snow melts. Only wish screen was viewable from front of camera.

I am a fanatic about shooting pictures of flowers. This has a very nice macro feature. I can get in really tight on a flower and capture its real beauty. I am constantly awed by the saturation I find in my colors. I used it to photograph a family reunion and all the pictures came out the same way. We use the camera for everyday pictures when we don't feel like lugging around the big DSLR. The picture quality is amazing and the big LCD screen is the best! As soon as you get it in your hands you know that it's well built, but I own other Canon's and would expect no less from this company. The price was an unbelievable bargain for such a great piece!

This is my 3rd collection of canon, and i use for all occasions. It is so easy to carry and don't have to worry about charging if you happen to travel overseas. view finder is great and the lcd screen to view and record a short video too.
