The Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH is a feature-rich, pocket-sized, Digital Camera with 8.0 megapixel resolution, a sharp and fast 3x optical zoom lens, and features Canon's advanced Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) system that significantly reduces the image-blurring effects, and helps users achieve the best possible picture quality even in low-light shooting conditions. The camera incorporates Canon's proprietary DIGIC III processor that provides the cameras fast start up, fast autofocus and quick shutter response times, and also improves both the image quality of the camera as well as reducing its power consumption, thereby extending the battery life under typical shooting conditions.
Canon's precise 9-point Autofocus system along with the AF-Point Zoom feature work together with Face Detection Technology to allow users to double check the facial expressions of their subjects, when shooting under more challenging conditions. There are also 18 shooting modes including a fully automatic mode; a semi-automatic "Camera M" mode which allows access to features such as Exposure Compensation and White Balance adjustments for greater creative control.
Streamlining the image review process, Canon's Intelligent Orientation Sensor determines whether a scene is being shot as a vertical or horizontal image and automatically adjusts it for quick and easy review on the camera's bright, sharp and easy-to-read, 230,000-pixel 2.5 inch Pure Color LCD II screen. The Image Inspection Tool feature zooms in on faces automatically during playback to quickly check facial expressions, and the camera also features Automatic Red Eye Correction and in-Camera Photo Trimming.

I love this camera! It has a beautiful, high resolution LCD screen that allows you to see in bright light as well as in the dark. The image quality is outstanding! There is very little lag time between shots and the startup is super quick. Even the macro setting gives outstanding results, you can focus inches away. I have an SLR for professional shooting, but this little camera goes everywhere with me and its image quality and other camera features allow me to shoot beautiful, high resolution shots at all times! The only thing on my wish list is a little bit more optical zoom, but one con compared to numerous pros is forgivable. :)

Wanted a small rig and a friend raved about the SD1100. For once I didn't do a lot of research because with digital cameras I've, in the past, done too much research and not been pleased with any of them for different reasons. This one is like my somewhat recent Canon Powershot -- very good outside pics (although not as good as the Powershot)/terrible inside pics. Take away the flash, which makes the lighting look terribly unnatural and you've got a blurred image at high iso. What I do like is the long-lasting rechargable battery (included). This is key and I probably won't use the Powershot anymore just for that reason. Looking forward to getting SLR capability in a point and shoot model. Couldn't be much longer, right?

This product gets used for wildlife pictures, family photos, and animals pictures. I also use the video feature to make small videos of wildlife to post on you tube. I love this cameras size, features, and its color. I love that it fits into my back pocket with no problems, and I can take it anywhere. Tings that could be better, the zooming in and out while video taking and I wish I could zoom a little bit more when taking pictures. Other than that it's a great little camera for its size and price it gets the job done.

couldn't be easier to use and takes perfect pictures. It took me 2 minutes to read the directions and get going. Also love the size. It fits right in my pocket. Also easy to download to the computer. Just plug in and voila...there are my pictures. I carry this in my purse all the time. Much better than any camera phone.

I have an SLR, but this camera is always in my purse or pocket. It's a great size and takes great photos. I am partial to Canon cameras because of the great colors their lenses capture. I find other cameras don't have the clarity, and often look dirty or murky. It is just the right combination of portability and clarity.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH Digital Camera (Swing Silver):
Camera is easy to use, loading pictures to the computer was very easy. One of the nice features about the software to load pictures on the computer is that you can easily choose to only load new pictures instead of having multiple copies of the same pictures. There are a lot of settings that explore, but the basics are simple enough to figure out right from the box. Image stabilization seems to work well, blurry pictures are hopefully a thing of the past. Low light pictures also came out well.
Package offered was quite a value. After comparison shopping on line, for $10 more than one of the large retail chains, all of the extras were included (case, 2 memory cards, extra battery and protection plan)

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH Digital Camera (Swing Silver):
The video quality is surprising. It's the most impressive feature of this camera to me. Exceeded my expectations greatly. As for the photos, the camera tends to shoot about 1 stop underexposed unless you're using the spot meter, and the LCD screen plays back about 3-4 stops brighter than the actual exposure, even at its lowest setting. Once you get the hang of these quirks, though, it's a nice little camera. We made great use of it at Disney World and I hardly noticed I was carrying it.

I'm a professional photographer, but sometimes it is nice to just have a little point & shoot for candids.. this camera works great for that purpose. It's small.. I can take it anywhere, and it takes a great photo.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH Digital Camera (Swing Silver):
This is a really easy-to-use, good-photo-quality, durable point-and-shoot. For the price the image quality is great. If you want a little more control over your photos you have the option to use manual mode or some of the other photo modes. But it works great in Automatic as well. I bought it for my boyfriend, who is pretty clueless about photography, but he has taken some really great shots, plus I can borrow it and have fun too. I used it a lot in really cold weather and snow and it held up really well.

Bought for a Christmas gift to a friend and I ended up shooting some with it to try it out. I have a 5D with several lenses and I was very impressed with the capabilities of this camera. Definately worth the few bucks to buy.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH Digital Camera (Swing Silver):
I am an avid, but amateur, photographer with a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, so I bought this camera in the hopes that the controls would be similar. They are, but this little camera has some features that my main camera doesn't even have! It is very nice for situations when you don't want to haul the big camera, lenses & bag around. I'm still getting used to the LCD screen (the viewfinder doesn't have a diopter adjustment so my aging eyes can't see through it). My only complaint is the number of levels you need to go through to get to the scene modes - we were in Las Vegas for New Year's Eve, and in the dark without my glasses I never did figure out how to get to the "fireworks" mode.
