I've already used this recorder for everything. I've recorded a choir concert in a cathedral and it's very clear. I also found that the sound is better the closer you get to the source, seems like common knowledge but it sounds great. The only thing is it records kind of soft, so you have to turn up the volume all the way to hear it really well. I'm sure you can edit this with the software provided, I just haven't gotten to that yet. Overall a great product.

Sounds great with barbershop quartets, and has great quality with acappella vocal singing.

I auditioned this unit in comparison to the $100 more expensive Yamaha CX which is very similar but with higher quality mics built in. Both function very similarly. I found the sound quality for spoken word to be great, and for acoustic jamming, also quite fine. For recording a live band in a practice space (my intended use) I found it a tad compressed and "washed out" sounding with a not very extended high end. The CX sounded clearer but with a reedy high end and poor bass response. Both models sounded FAR better when using a plug-in external stereo mic like a ATM-822. Lastly, the 2G plugs directly into your USB port without a cord. Convenient, but the design makes the USB port support the device, and it feels like it is putting strain on the port floating out of the side of your laptop 6".

Use it to record conversations and classes. The five recording times (selectable from 3 hrs to 265 hrs) are great. And the "secured" recording option (requiring a password to access the recording) is nice as well. The case doesn't have a good belt clip, so it hangs somewhat unsecurely.
