I like to always have a camera with me - this one lives in my briefcase. I use it to document sites I visit, family events, and general photography. The photos are AWESOME - the Fuji SuperCCD is a great sensor - I've had a few Fuji's over the last 7 years, beginning with an S1. The wide zoom range is a big benefit. It is nice an compact - very easy to carry. My only negative comments are there's no optical viewfinder and it takes a "special" (non-AA) battery - that said, these "features" do yield a solid and compact camera. So far, I can live with not having an optical viewfinder and I'll just be sure to carry a spare battery.

I like having a "point and shoot" to supplement my DSLR.
I got the F100fd to replace my aging Finepix F30. But after 200 shots with the F100fd, I see I'll still be using the F30 for some shots - like interior flash shots.
The F100's flash is an underachiever, and the flash is just under the shutter button, so my shooting hand gets in the way if I don't remember to adjust for it. I've lost several shots because of the flash location.
I like the Dual IS mode for available light shots, but some color blotches appear in low-light situations. Blame a lot of junk in the blue channel in darker areas.
The noise reduction is aggressive, often mistaking detail for noise. It's not bad at ISO 200, marginal at ISO 400, and horrible at 800 and above.
I like the lens - 28mm on the wide end, very sharp, and outstanding depth of field. It's quite remarkable for a camera this size.
The 4-way controller on the back of the camera requires a delicate touch with its addition of a rotating ring. It makes it easy to select the wrong menu item.
Bottom line: it's great for outdoor shots, but I can't recommend it for interior shots unless the user is proficient in image editing / post processing. And forget about ISOs above 400.
I would strongly recommend that one get an extra battery, because battery life is MUCH shorter than the F30's.
It isn't as good as the F30, IMO. Too bad.....

I really like this camera. I bought it for a back-up since my Fuji D-SLR was a little to bulky to carry around for formal events. Imagine carrying this huge camera bag while wearing a pretty cocktail dress/ballgown.
At first, I was a tad bit disappointed since I thought that this did not fare well in low light or the night shots, but if you set it at the night vision and put the flash "on", the pictures come out great. The down arrow is the flash button on the side of the wheel. I also love the double picture feature - one with and one without a flash. this makes it easier to choose the better picture <- A big selling point.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix F100fd Digital Camera:
My SLR is bulky and I often want to have something small in my purse. A couple of years ago after reading several reviews I got the Fujifilm f31fd (after a couple of Canon cameras), but it got soaked in sodapop... To get a replacement, after reading through reviews, I again decided between Fujifilm and a Canon and due to the reviews on the light sensitivity I went for this camera.
I must say it is excellent in low light conditions, no flash needed - especially if you have a steady hand (like my husband) the pictures come out excellent. Setting the menu takes a little bit of getting used to, but all the manual override options you need are there such a WB, ISO, Flash settings, Face detection, color (chrome vs normal or B&W).

This is a good camera to take with you. Small enough, with much better than average picture quality. I bought it because DPREVIEW rated it very high. Works good in low light,
The menus aren't the easiest to use but are ok.

This is the second Finepix camera I've purchased. This one for my child, so I get to use one too. Despite the first one requiring two visits for repair (at our cost, because of "rough use") the quality of the photos is outstanding. The face recognition makes a huge difference in capturing, well, people's faces, which is reason we take so many pictures. [...]

This is an excellent compact digital camera to bring along when carrying a DSLR is too much of a hassle.
For a compact digital camera it produces wonderful images with true "Fuji" colors. The image stabilization seems to work well. Even at ISO 400 the image quality is very good with much less noise compared to other compact digital cameras on the market.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix F100fd Digital Camera:
I bring this camera everywhere, the wide zoom range and acceptable high iso performance makes it a good a everyday camera. The image quality up to iso 400 is decent, but at 800, the image definitely suffers and this is with the camera taking 6MP images. In addition, the manual functions are sorely lacking. However, with the $100 rebate, I believe this camera still offers the most bang for the buck from amongst all other options.

I decided to buy this camera because I wanted get photos that are less noisy than regular compact cameras. I wanted it to be as close to professional camera as possible and still be small and inexpensive. I think this camera was the right choice for me.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix F100fd Digital Camera:
I was looking for a point and click camera that allowed me to take sharp photos indoors. After doing some research, I found that this one was the best one for the purpose and after taking 300+ shots, I agree. I let the ISO level go all the way up to 1600 and the photo does not come out to be too grainy, and when I shrink them for blog usage, it's all smooth, so I'm happy. Of course, if you zoom into the photo, you'll see a lot of graininess, but when viewed 1:1 on a 15 inch monitor, the 1600 ISO image looks quite smooth, so the camera serves my purpose.
One con I would mention is the somewhat clunky user interface compared to the Canon series, but it's just an extra click or two, so the issue is somewhat minor.

I am completely amazed and impressed by the quality of the images I have taken with this camera. The low light shots are amazing. I have taken lots of pictures that were of a very fast moving object that have turned out amazing. My favorite feature is the Portrait Enhancing mode, it makes faces appear so smooth, wrinkle free, and soft. It reminds me of portrait enhancing professional photographers do. I did a lot of research before buying this camera and in my opinion it is the best value for the money. I am so impressed with this camera, I love the size I am able to keep it in my purse so I can take it everywhere I go and not miss photo opportunities. I completely recommend this camera 100%.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix F100fd Digital Camera:
as the review for this camera at [...](holiday comparison-premier compacts) points out, *despite* a confusing interface, the f100fd is the thoroughbred of the field. Fuji has made the best digital photography ccds for at least the past four years. this chip is no exception. while small, it is bigger than the others in the space. add to that a broad and controllable dynamic range that none of the competition has.the f100fd also offers 5x optical zoom and 28mm wide angle lens--both which increase the cameras ability to capture more and better images in the moment.the weight and form-factor make the camera very portable. i use a nikon d200 and a sony cybershot dsc-v3. the both take great images, but i don't like carrying them. my wife has a canon powershot sd400 that's small enough to carry all of the time but it misses a lot of information because of its limited "glass."as for the fuchsia banding mentioned elsewhere, that problem was addressed with a firmware update (1.02). fujifilm could do a better job notifying the public of updates. on the other hand, some manufacturers never supply updates.one last thing: after rebate, this 12megapixal camera will cost you less than [$]

I had the f31fd, but was forced to upgrade when that one was stolen... Picture quality on this camera is great! Download speed to computer is fast. Only complaint would be battery does not last as long as it did on f31fd. Get a spare battery. You can charge the battery in the included external charger while using the second battery in the camera.

I am a serious amatuer, semi-pro looking for a backup for my SLR rig. Researched led me to this model. Excellent sharpness, color rendition is a little on cold side at default settings (but can set for saturated.) Menu structure is not the easiest to understand but gets the job done. Overall, excellent street shooter, very low noise, actually useable up to 800 ISO, near SLR performance in metering,excellent handling of highlights with little white blow-out in image. Solid construction.Particulary with large rebate, cannot beat this little gem.
Comments about Fujifilm FinePix F100fd Digital Camera:
i completely agree with the previous post about this camera being a "dud"...i read these reviews before i purchased this camera, but unfortunately that post had not yet been made. i have a fuji finepix that is about 3 years old & loved the camera so much that i decided to "upgrade" to this model. the aforementioned post is accurate in its description of the bright band at the left edge of the screen & the extreme noise in images when taking pictures in low light which is also the main reason i bought this camera. it drives me crazy & i am returning it. if you plan on using this camera with the flash on or in bright light only, it should function fine for you.

Pros:
* High quality photos.
* Lots of features.
* Good low light photos.
* Neat night time 8 second exposure.
* Browsing photos is fast.
Cons:
* It is very important to wear the wrist strap, since the large LCD is where you would want to grip it firmly in your left hand.
* You have to switch it to sport mode to make sure that pictures with movement don't turn out blurry.
* Some features don't work with other features, and it is not always obvious. For example, if you are taking an 8 second exposure, you have to be in night mode, and there is no adjustment of the ISO for light levels either automatically or manually.
* It's hard to take full advantage of 12 megapixels. When you zoom in all the way, it isn't any clear
