Ion BLOCK ROCKER Mobile PA System for iPod
The BLOCK ROCKER from Ion is a high-quality portable PA system ideal for use at outdoor parties, sporting events, live music gigs, and more. Constructed from heavy-duty aluminum, with convenient built-in handles and two wheels, the BLOCK ROCKER is built for life on the road. It features an XLR/TRS combo input, a TRS input, a stereo RCA input, and a universal iPod dock so you can connect an instrument, CD player, the included professional-quality microphone, or any iPod with a dock connector.
The two-way speaker system can output high-fidelity sound from any of your audio sources at distances up to 150' and the enhanced bass output creates a full, rich sound. The system has a built-in rechargeable battery that lasts for over 12 hours to keep the party going strong. If you want to get the system up off the floor to put a greater focus on the music, the cabinet can be mounted on a standard 1-3/8" PA speaker stand.

I've had the block rocker about a year. It worked great at beginning for tailgate parties. I used it all summer on the beach, bought a stand so we could have music while playing volleyball. By the end of the summer the battery only lasted about 2 hours. It used to last about 9 hours. Now I'm trying to get a replacement battery (very expensive & hard to find)

We have a cheer squad using it to assist with football games background music and their cheer off competition. The sound quality is awesome. The only thing missing are adapter cords to use with devices other than iPods and iPhones. In all I just wish we would have purchased it sooner

We are using the PA for a cheerleader squad at flag football games. We have used it for about 2 weeks and so far have not ran into any issues. The sound quality is actually better than I expected but don't be fooled by the "aluminum" construction. Side panel feel like plastic and the handles seem week. We are being very careful with the handle for the rollers as I am afraid it will break if used on rough ground. Also, the sound is very directional - in other words, in an outdoor environment it must be pointed almost directly at the group needing to hear. So far the Ipod interface has worked great.

Bought this to bring to a bachlorette party weekend - used it in a party bus and on a boat. worked great! All the guests at the bachlorette party wanted one by the end of the weekend. Only thing is the mic broke (the mic kept coming apart from the cord, and the cord prongs eventually gave out from trying to put it back in so many times) but other then that it's worked great. it gets pretty loud, but we were using it on full blast so it might not be loud enough for large event, but great for smaller ones... definitely better then using a smaller ipod speaker.
it's pretty heavy but has handles on both sides and a pull out handle like a suitcase would have. makes it easy to transport.
the rechargeable batteries are great, never ran out.
sound is great, just make sure the ipod and speaker volume settings are similar or you get some weird effects.

I needed something that could:
1) play music outdoors for a few hours w/o electrical hookup
2) also provide P.A. capability w/microphone
3) iPod docking
4) easy to lug around
The ION Block Rocker met the criteria and since a few of my friends also had it - I decided to try one out. So far so good and my college age son will steal it if I am not careful!
The micophone cord is not very long but I can get a longer one. A wireless mic would have been nice but this is still a great unit.

I purchased this item to use as a personal PA system. I travel around and conduct meetings and this system works well to play music to pump up my employees and clients. Additionally I like the fact that I can attach my iPod to it and it sounds great. I also use it as a personal PA syste, i attach myt wireless mic to my PC, run a Y-adapter audio cable from laptop to BR and I am set to go!
I havent found any problems with the system per this review. Love it!

I purchased this product for my daughter who teaches music at and elementary school, and is in charge of putting on the school plays. She has only used the Block Rocker for a couple of weeks, but so far she is very happy with it. I purchased an Azden wireless mic system to go with it, so she can wear the lav mic and move around the classroom. It has really made her job much easier. The kids can hear her, and she doesn't have to raise her voice to get their attention.
She really likes the integrated iPod dock, and the instrument input. Some of the kids will be bringing electric guitars to play in class using the Block Rocker instrument input.
I would recommend some sort of wireless mic system (we got the Azden WMS-PRO VHF WIRELESS LAV/HH MIC SYSTEM - AZWMSPRO, which seems to work very well) if you are going to use this in a teaching environment. The hand held mic that comes with the Block Rocker is very good (no feedback at all!) but, it does tie you to a wire that isn't very long.
Some users have commented on the lack of durability for the Block Rocker. I can't comment on that yet because the unit is still very new.

I bought PA System for my husband. It is simple to use, has great sound and nice features (ex. use with enclosed Microphone). However, you would need to purchase the stand to elevate the PA System for optimal sound quality. The PA System is light weight and very portable with handle and wheels to roll speaker.
