The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Digital Camera is remarkable in that it contains a 10x wide-angle optical zoom lens in a compact, stylish body for the ultimate in picture performance and user convenience. With 8.1 effective megapixels of resolution for incredibly detailed images, and a wide-angle Leica DC lens (equivalent to 28 - 280mm on a 35mm film camera), this versatile camera is well suited to a broad range of shooting opportunities.
You can easily capture a large group of people, or expansive architectural structures and landscapes with the wide end of the zoom range, or zoom in for sports, wildlife and event photography. In addition, the Optical Image Stabilizer feature (Mega O.I.S) minimizes the jitter from shaky hands that causes many photos to look blurred, ensuring that your images are always beautifully clear.
The DMC-TZ4 is incredibly fast thanks to the Venus Engine IV processor, which provides fast consecutive shooting, and boasts outstanding response time thus enabling easy capture of spur-of-the-moment shots. The image processor also provides for efficient power consumption, contributing to the cameras ability to take 300 pictures on a single charge of the included lithium-ion battery. The camera also includes a bright and high resolution 2.5" LCD display to easily frame and view your images.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Digital Camera (Black):
I got this camera as a carry-everywhere camera for those times when I didn't feel like hauling my d80 with me. It easily fits into my pocket, and is very nice to hold; the grip is excellent.
Image quality is good, not great, and the intelligent auto mode works well; in that sense, it is a good, mindless camera.
I would have liked the ability to have more manual controls with this camera, and RAW would have been a plus, but overall a good camera.

I can't say enough good things about this camera. Time between photos is very short. The zoom on it is more than any camera of its size and price point. The features are simple and intuitive. A great purchase for anyone looking for a small camera to take great pictures.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Digital Camera (Black):
Recently I have upgraded my TZ1 to the TZ4 (Great value at the time of purchase). I was extremely pleased with the TZ1 once I got to know the camera limitations. However, I decided to upgrade the camera mainly for the wide angle lens of the TZ4 and reported better high ISO quality.
Like the the TZ1 this camera has it's own limitations largely due to noise in low light situations. However, there is a noticable quality improvement between the photographs of the TZ4 and TZ1. I love the 28-280mm lens, it's every thing and more than I expected. One thing that I missed before buying this camera is that the camera lens is less bright then the TZ1 f3.3 versus f2.8.
Photographs is bright light are excellent. I was not pleased with my first few attempts in low light and high ISO. Noise was very noticeable. However this was an area that the TZ1 also failed to impress (awful smugging of detail by the TZ1). I have limited ISO to 400. Also the Imagine stabilization in the lens gives approximately a 3 stop advantage in low light. Therefore while noise can be an issue you should still be able to get some good shots in indoor conditions.
iA seems to work very well and give good results in most situations. Focus, metering etc are well managed. Correct focus lock is an area that has improved since the TZ1. In the TZ1 I ended up using center focus lock constantly. White Balance auto sets are poor under artificial light conditions but it can be adjusted by the user. Personally I like the e-zoom button. It is seldom that I require any more than the 10x optical zoom but in the few cases the 3MPixel 15.9x option is sufficient for good quality small prints. The construction quality of the camera is excellent. The microphone for movie mode is badly positioned though. I have covered it with my fingers several times already.
Movie mode is of a similar quality to the TZ1 (One of the best of it time) after the firmware was upgraded to v1.2. I burn videos onto DVD so the HD of the TZ5 or the TZ7 would be wasted on me. While I like having short movie clips, still photography is the main propose of having this camera.
Now for what I really think of it. This is an amazing camera for the size, optical zoom range, price. It is ideal as a travel camera or an all round family camera. You should look else where if low light photography is you thing.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Digital Camera (Black):
Great pictures, quick operation, intelligent mode works really well, and scenes and custom modes are easy to use and provide plenty of flexibility. Takes nice low-light photos. Battery life is adequite, hasn't died on me yet. Very pleased so far. I love everything about the camera, except two things: it has trouble focusing at full zoom in low light (not to surprising, really) and it didn't come with a case. Only missed an optical viewfinder once.

This camera does great when used at the Intelligent Auto setting. It even takes great pictures when it is pitch dark. It is not as good, however, when used at the manual settings. My primary purpose for getting the camera was to take close up pictures and I was dissapointed in that respect.

I purchased this camera because my last digital was slow in turning on, taking a picture, focusing, etc. I missed a lot of shots because of this. The Lumix can be turned on and a picture taken within about 5 seconds. The screen is bright and the pictures turn out fantastic!

I used this camera both indoors and outdoors.
It does an excellent job of close up pictures. My three cats never looked so good. Pictures of flowering shrubs were well detailed and the color was excellent.
So far I have not used it for outdoor landscapes, but indoor wide angle shots were very good also.
I bought this camera for the wide angle capabilities... less expensive that the auxilary wide angle for my larger Lumix DMC FZ 50.

got this camera to replace a kodak v1254 that had decided to stop working. It takes great pics, I have it set to 6mp 16x9. The camera has a wide angle lens which fits more objects in the field of view. the video isnt hd but looks very good (800x400 resolution).

I bought one for both myself and my mom, and it was a hit at Christmas with everyone. I spent an entire day researching cameras, and I am very glad I decided on this one. It seems to have all the new updated features of cameras. Very quick shutter speed. Very easy to use especially in the auto mode. Have not explored further. Great image stabilization especially with kids. I took a picture in complete darkness, and it appeared as if I had taken it in full light. Perfect size; not too small or too big. Great big, clear viewing screen. I would recommend this camera to anyone.

I love this camera. I bought it a year ago. It provides vivid pictures and zooms into everything. I LOVE IT. My only complaint is the scene mode of fireworks and food...the picture just looks dull. Everything else is AMAZING. My boyfriend wanted the same camera but I could not find it in stores =( Oh well

i bought this for my boyfriend, who is the travel enthusiast. He is just starting to get into photography. The small size is perfect for him to stick in his pocket when he goes places. The camera itself is very easy to operate with comfortable controls and easy to understand. I do however wish the camera took real estate of the back five-way controller/shooting/playback switch and made them slightly bigger. The zoom is great for such a small camera. I'd be happier if it had a viewfinder of some sort because i'm used to my SLR, but i don't think he will have a problem with it. Overall, great camera!

If you want a digital caera to carry everywhere but you still want to take great pictures, this is your camera.
In auto mode it works perfect, but if you feel like a National Geographic reporter from day to day you can also take control and still take great pictures. Manual mode has tons of options and all of them easy to crompehend what you are doing.
10X optical zoom is a must and wide-angle lens is a nice add-on to take group pictures without having to be taken from 30ft distance.

Perfect camera for everyday shooting. Great pictures and movies quality. Very good for low light video capturing compare to 4 different camcorders I've tried before :-) 10x zoom also works good in bright light condition and a bit slow in low light.

I like to carry a camera with me at all times and this camera fits the bill for that. I like the simple controls and menus. Unlike other digital cameras I've owned, I don't have to wade through many layers of menu options to get the settings I want. The 10x wide zoom covers any pucture situation I want.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Digital Camera (Black):
I am not a professional however this camera was recommended to me by a professional. I was a bit skeptical thinking that there is no way this camera could take vibrant shots like more expensive cameras, however it did not disappoint. All of the shots I've taken with this have been stunning the colors truly pop and the image is crisp. The 10x optical zoom and telemacro settings make it super easy to get detailed shots from a distance. If you have a tripod you can take some amazing low light shots using the starry sky mode again picking up beautiful colors that could not be captured with lesser cameras.
