The Squeezebox Duet really does all it says on the box. I recently moved into a new, larger apartment and was wondering how I could hook up my PC, which is now located in a different room, to my soundsystem. I had previously worked and played in the same room and so this had never been an issue. I stumbled upon the Logitech Squeezebox quite by accident and it turns out to be tailored to meet my needs exactly - a hand-held controller with a scroll wheel and a superb display searches my PC-bound music library for the music I want to listen to according to any number of keywords - artist, genre, year, etc. - and the squeezebox, plugged into my soundsystem, streams it into my living room in perfect quality. I do have a few niggling complaints - the controller could have a more substantial, less plastic feel to it, the scroll wheel is a tad clumsy, I find the default menu structure a little awkward to use and the menus are many and some superfluous - but the versatility of the device more than makes up for them. And perhaps the most interesting aspect is the superb support - the forums on the Logitech website are visited regularly by members of staff who give detailed and helpful answers to any and all questions, and the community generally is active, open and helpful. There is also a wide and ever-expanding range of plug-ins for the device to, for example, help you customize the look of those sometimes awkward-feeling menus or for a host of audio issues and modifications, some helpful, some amusing, all interesting.
For anyone aiming for that wireless home - this device is a must-have

The Squeezebox is a great concept and it works really well, except the wireless does not work. I tried both a Netgear Rangemax and a Linksys wireless router and the Squeezebox worked with neither of them unless there was line of sight between the Squeezebox and the router. Normally, my router is 25 feet and one wall away from the the Squeezebox location. I have never had an issue with any other device using either of these wireless networks. I also have no other wireless devices that could be causing interference. In other words, I can't imagine that the wireless feature would work for anyone. This holds true for Internet radio and music played directly from my hard drive. When I moved the router next to the Squeezebox, it worked very good. When it was hardwired, it worked amazing - if you can hardwire, then this is an awesome device. I like the user interface. The setup was fairly simple, I had to hard reset the router, the modem, and the computer a couple times to get it to recognize everything. Logitech phone support hours are terrible, but they were really great in spit of their inability to make the wireless functional. I have a iMac 2.4GHz Dual Core, with 3Gb of RAM and running Leopard. Ultimately, this device is cool enough that I will go through the hassle of running Ethernet to it directly from the router, but if this is not an option, then this is not a product for you.

Comments about Logitech Squeezebox Duet Wireless Music System:
I had searched for quite some time to find a way to stream my music collection through my stereo wirelessly and was so happy to find this system. However, once set-up it has proven to be quirky and frustrating to use. One day it plays flawlessly for hours, the next it refreshes constantly and makes listening unbearable.
I tried a more powerful dual band wireless router, but it made no difference. Furthermore there is no rhyme nor reason as to when this will occur. We've ruled out interference from our wireless phones and other wireless items by process of elimination. The fact is that it just doesn't work. After a year of rebooting and resetting to factory settings every other time I turn it on, I am ready to throw this system in the trash. It's a shame because the wi-fi remote is a very cool concept (in theory!)

upon receiving this i was very excited. The interface seemed simple to use and the duet system looked really nice once set up and complimented my home theater setup....anyways i found the duet very glitchy and had a hard time finding my local stations ( NPR ) the one i really wanted. It also had trouble finding all the music in any given folder. Could be my network but i doubt it as I know i have a solid setup where everything streams effortlessly whether its my sons gaming or me printing from my laptop. Although this was a gift i had to return due to its unstable nature. Hard to recommend when i can get an app for free for my iphone and connect it to my HTPC and stream my music.....FOR FREE

Sat up is easy, really self-guiding, basic hook-up and registration no more than 10 minutes.
I play music collection from my PC (abt 8000 songs) and internet on a stereo downstairs. WiFi connection is very stable, sound quality excellent.
After the Squeezebox Radio, this is the best piece of my audio system I bought in years.

If there is a better way to enjoy the music held prisioner on your PC or your server, I don't know what it is. The Squeezebox Duet can do it all as well as Internet radio, Pandora, LastFM, and lots lots more. It is a capital investment that is worth spending your money on, as the pleasure it gives one cannot put a price on.

60 yr old, knew that something was missing.Looked at new AV receivers, to replace a 10 yr old 5.1 onkyo. Realized that what I thought was the best feature was network apps, i.e. pandora or internet radio. Punchline is this. If you want to make your CD collection be relevant again, if you want to discover new artists and rediscover the old ones you loved, get a streaming media server.I found the squeezebox 4 days ago, read some on line reviews (which were great, by and large), checked out the Logitech website, and ordered it from B&H Monday nite. Hsre I am on Thursday, incredibly impressed and satisfied. Even ripped my old CD collection, and now have access to stuff I forgot all about.Great price from B&H, [...] and great support from Logitech.GET THIS... it will make you happy, if you love music but felt something was missing.

I use this product to distribute my music collection throughout my home.I also use it to distribute internet radio.
I am just blown away at what a great product this is. It was easy to setup and the support from Logitech was fabulous. It is everything I expected and more.
There are little things like not having an option for fixed audio out that should be inproved but nothing about the product could be catagorized as not so great.

I use the squeezebox Duet to deliver internet radio, Sirius Radio, and my iTunes library (on my computer) to my centralized music system. I was most interested having Sirius Radio play through my system without having to install a satellite receiver. It was very easy to install into my wireless network, I had it working in just a few minutes. I would highly recommend this as a quality system.

Unit is extremely easy to setup and the handheld is wonderful. It struggles with online music like Pandora if you have a switch between the Squeezebox and your router. It can't get ITunes album artwork so you have to load it manually. The automatic gain control for volume doesn't work well at all. I still like it and I am glad I bought it.

Comments about Logitech Squeezebox Duet Wireless Music System:
This is the first component that deals with the end point media playout on my home network; having spent the last couple of years building the network (NAS, Gigabit ethernet, banging holes in the walls for cables etc). The duet is tiny and light; having previously had a soundbridge by comparison. The receiver unit itself has no markings and a solitary LED at the front, but is otherwise unremarkable. The sound quality is an order of magnitude better than my old roku, playing mainly classical, rock and pop. It is the remote which really makes this unit though. Excellent interface which is easy for everyone in the home to use (including the mother in law), with a very clear easy to read screen with some excellent dynamic playlist and random play functions. The remote is more than a remote though, and expect to see more and more applets created for it as time goes by. In fact you can even listen to your music collection through headphones attached to the remote (in this regard it's a bit like and ipod touch without the touch). The setup wasn't entirely smooth, but a quick search through forums sorted that out; some issue connecting to a wireless network. The remote is a little slow connecting to things but I think I can reconfigure that (forcing it to static IP). I'll be testing the zone capabilities of the 2 receivers over the next couple of weeks. But a great purchase, excellent price [...] from B&H; and now I'm not so embarrased that my in-laws have their house wired for Sonos.

Comments about Logitech Squeezebox Duet Wireless Music System:
I bought this product and was rooting for it to work well bigtime. However, I have spent 8 hours this week with Logitech trying to get it to work. Logitech acknowledges a glitch it has with customers that also have Verizon Fios. After 8 hours of trouble shooting with Logitech, we did have to use another router, and got it to work. The range is short though. My laptop which runs on wifi has FAR greater distance. The product itself though is incredibly cool. Great music access at a much cheaper cost than most home audio systems.

Great sound, neat interface, great integration with the Classic, once you get it setup.
I already have a Squeezebox Classic and have the Squeezecenter software running on a Linux server. I expected the Duet setup to be a no-brainer, just plug it in, show it the server and go. Unfortunately, it was kind of a fiasco: the Duet wanted to update its firmware right out of the box, then the Classic wanted an update...then the Duet wanted an update to its *old* firmware version. Finally, after upgrading the Squeezecenter software (on the server), all the updating quieted down and it's worked flawlessly since.

Comments about Logitech Squeezebox Duet Wireless Music System:
The Squeezebox is perfect for distributing music around the house. The player and the remote connect to each other and to your computer through WI-FI wireless just like your laptop. And the computer can be Windows or Apple or Linux, which in my house is just awesome. And since the software is open-source, updates and new features come fast and furious. But it's the little touches, like the motion sensor in the remote so that it turns on when you pick it up, that make this so cool. My only complaint is that the wireless range on the player seems to be a bit limited, so for one location I ran an ethernet cable. But, hey, at least it lets you do that!
