I was right! I've been loving this thing! Paired with a simple umbrella/flash bracket, you can mount a small flash pretty much anywhere.
My latest use was clamping an SB-800 to the side of a tree to throw a little fill on a car I was shooting. Worked perfectly!
If you find yourself without anywhere to place a lightstand, but a convenient shelf/door/tree branch, this is the clamp you want.

We used this clamp to temporarily "mount" several cameras outdoords. It clamped very nicely to wood beams, poles, and a metal shelf. We have had no issues with rain or wind.
Be careful when losening the clamp, especially if you are trying to stretch the mouth to fit a larger object, as the crank, washer, and other parts will quickly come undone and will need to be pieced back together.

I four of them with manfrotto arms to hold Einstein 640 strobes to light a high school gymnasium. I also add a 3/16" inch stainless steel safety cable that will support 1,500 lbs and a padlock.

The Super Clamp is super. What else can be said about it?
Perfect for mounting a video monitor to your tripod (instead of balancing everything on the hot shoe mount.) The clamp will also hold lights, or anything else you can think of.
Very sturdy design and build. You can really crank down on the tightening arm to lock it in place.
Great product and worth every penny!

This is a solid clamp, B&H uses these all over the store to display lighting products, that should tell you something. Save a few bucks and grab the one with out the stud, who doesnt have a few extras rolling around their bag?
yes its heavy, but I'm sure it will last. Add an adjustable arm or umbrella head to really make it useful.

This is my 2nd Manfrotto super clamp from B&H. I use this one to clamp my MixPre-D onto my tripod leg. It works exactly as expected. My 1st one seems a bit more sturdy than this one. But both are good.

On a trip to Alaska to photograph the big brown bears, my wife and I used this very handy device, along with the #037 reversible short stud to attach our cameras to railings for a rock-steady support. The device is easy to attach to tables or other supports
The features of the Super Clamp also make it versatile for securing lighting units, umbrellas or other accessories.

This is an amazing clamp. Very very strong. Can clamp easily on a 1 1/4'' tubing and even a 1 1/2''. Also, the right angle corner allow it to be used on square tubing. The clamping screw is very strong. A lot of possibility to attach the camera.

I am one of those who is willing to spend a bit more for a great product that has proven longevity rather than looking to cut costs at the expense of quality. That being said, it is safe to say that I am a devoted evangelist for Manfrotto products!!
