The Olympus E-420 SLR Digital Camera has all the features you need to take great pictures. These features are crammed into one of the smallest Digital SLR bodies available. The high resolution 10-megapixel Live-MOS image sensor captures exquisite detail, and provides you with the flexibility to crop your images and still produce large, detailed prints. The unique Olympus Autofocus Live View function allows you to frame and focus your photos using the large 2.7-inch LCD as a viewfinder.
The E-420 is also very easy to use with a host of Scene Select Modes that make everyone an instant expert. You can also use the camera's advanced exposure modes including program, aperture priority, shutter priority and full manual control for the ultimate in creative control. You will get a great shot in any lighting situation with five metering modes including the 49-point ESP Meter, plus Shadow Adjustment Technology and the Face Detection feature, both viewable in real time on the Live View LCD.
Even with all of this power, the E-420 is incredibly easy to use. The ergonomic and lightweight design of the camera body means that the camera will be comfortable to hold even after a long day of sightseeing, and the 2.7" HyperCrystal II LCD enables images to be beautifully displayed in vivid color, even from 176-degree viewing angles or in bright sunlight, making it simple to preview and review your images.
The E-420 also solves the dust problem commonly found with SLR Cameras by providing a proven anti-dust system that utilizes a Supersonic Wave Filter in front of the image sensor to literally shake the dust away, so your pictures will be spotless - every time.

Comments about Olympus E-420 SLR Digital Camera (Camera Body):
The camera is great. Only complaint is the grip. I'm used to a full size SLR, and it took some getting used to. I'm fully adapted now and love this camera.

Comments about Olympus E-420 SLR Digital Camera (Camera Body):
I got this camera as a backup for my E-500 to use for wildlife photography
I thought after using an E-300 and E-500 that the small size would be a handicap and would not fit my hands, I was wrong. Easier to use than either of the other two Olympus camera. After its first use the E-500 became the backup. I am a four-thirds addict and this is now my favorite.
I cannot think of any negatives.

Comments about Olympus E-420 SLR Digital Camera (Camera Body):
I really love the size of the camera, although I'm adding a vertical grip for functionality.
I bought a 40-150 Olympus lens, and it is fantastic. The scene select modes are great if this is your first DSLR. They make it easier to shoot right away, while you're learning all the manual settings.
Battery live is great, and the LCD is really bright and clear. I use mine for sports and nature photos, and will stick with Olympus from here out.
The only thing I don't like is the slow focus time in Live View Mode, so I just stick with the view finder and love it.

Comments about Olympus E-420 SLR Digital Camera (Camera Body):
I got this a take-anywhere camera to replace a G9. I'm really impressed so far. The sensor being so much bigger than the G9's results in far superior image quality, and it's an SLR. It's much bigger than the G9, of course, but it's WAY smaller than a 40D; small enough to take somewhere not specifically for photography. The raw conversion software is slow compared to DPP or Bibble. The image quality I've obtained so far has been really good, and I only have the second-level Zuiko lens, not the first. Like any camera at first, there's a learning curve, and I'm still on it, but no unfavorable impressions yet (unless they were not significant enough to have registered in my memory). I think this is a great small (world's smallest so far) DSLR, and I don't think anyone would go wrong choosing it (assuming they didn't want one of the larger ones with sensor-based IS; in that case, the E-520 would be the choice).

It has replaced my use of the E-1 almost completely. Small, strong, quick, and excellant processor for shart images.

Comments about Olympus E-420 SLR Digital Camera (Camera Body):
I upgraded from an E-410. I shoot only in RAW. The E-420 sensor has better dynamic range at higher ISOs, and the color balance is good with very little post-processing needed.
