Small and easy to use digital camera. Good for holiday pics. Cool digital macro feature. The only thing not so cool is the imaging software that is required for transfering the pics to a computer. The software is slow. I would prefer just plugging it in like a portable harddrive and browser the images like files.

I was so impressed with this camera that I bought another as a gift (along with Sandisk ExtremeIII SD card 2 GB).

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD770 IS Digital Elph Digital Camera (Black):
I needed a small camera to carry while on a three week business trip. I didn't have room, space, or time to carry my Nikon DSLR and a complement of lenses. I had purchased my son a PowerShot SD1100 IS for Christms and was stunned by the photos he had been sending me from college. So I purchased the SD770.
I have used the SD770 to document classes, to photograph aircraft instrument panels, to shoot landscapes and snapshots. It has been a very liberating experience. It reminds me of days long ago when I would carry a Leica M3. Only this is much better! It has a very good auto white balance. The auto focusing modes work very well. It requires using the manual a bit to figure out how to get what you want. But other than having to go through several layers of menu's at times, it is fairly intuitive. It also works very well when left to its own devices on Auto.
I wish the "manual" mode was a little more straight forward. You have the option to do exposure compensations. But there is not straight /f stop shutter speed that I have discovered.
All in all, it seems pretty sturdy. It s very easy to carry. The battery life so far has been very good. This is the first Canon I have owned since the late 1960's. I am really enjoying it.

This camera was just the upgrade I needed. I had been using an old digital point and shoot with horrible lag time, but this camera has almost no lag time and takes geat pictures, quick. I would recommend it for anyone needing a basic point and shoot, that has some great features and you don't have to break the piggy bank.

Small, compact with loads of good features. Love: the zoom capability. Don't love: the need to press shutter halfway first( to allow for focusing) before taking a shot. Overall a great camera for all my needs.

The PowerShot SD770 has features that can be expected in a semi pro SLR camera. Including, among others, being able to select ISO speed. The 10.0 Megapixels is also a great feature for this point and shoot camera. It is a good alternative for those who like good pictures but doesn't like to carry always your SLR.

I use this camera to take pictures of my kids. It is very fast and takes wonderful pictures. The only downfall is that the flash is not very strong, but this is true of most compact cameras. Canon does sell an add-on flash that can be attached to this camera, though. I would recommend to anyone who wants a great point-and-shoot camera that is fast and simple to use.

I use this camera (amongst the many that I have) for family & vacation. So far so good: pretty good exposure, lots of nice options, overall a very good point & shoot...however...the built-in "red-eye removal" is not so user friendly, which is ok because it doesn't do a very good job. It does a poor job, in fact so red-eye removal is best done in your computer.
It is a good little camera tho, & I am recommending it.
Flash could use a little more umph, also.

I've been a film photographer for more than 40 years. My digital of choice is the Nikon D200 but I wanted a small, fit in your pocket type camera that would be handy for casual snapshots. For really important photos I'll still use medium format b&w film. Don't expect it to perform on a par with a Nikon D200 or 300 or a Canon EOS 5D but for casual snapshots, easy portability and just fun it really fits the bill.

They just get better. Great review screen size, but my favorite feature this the ability to put the camera in auto ISO mode and turn off the flash. Photos look as good as my larger digital SLR.

I found that the picture quality from this camera is similar to that of HD or Blu Ray. My desktop picture on my computer is like looking out a window. It is very easy to use straight out of the box. I'm not big into cameras and I haven't had to refer to the instruction manual yet.

I gave this as a gift to my son and daughter in law to get better photos of my new grandson. While I am a pretty good photographer, they are largely goofy neophytes with cameras and how they work.
With very little coaching and a nice, comfortable learning curve, the send not just nice but artistically great pictures of Liam. The close up capabilities make great sleeping baby opportunities a reality. The image stabilization does wonders for the quick snap shot. The excellent lens is ideal for this kind of shooting. And it's small, convenient size means it goes places even when packing for small children.
The only weak point - and it's not a huge deal since the sensor does a good job at higher ISO's - is a bit weak. The add on flash would be a good bargain for those who like additional illumination. Otherwise, it completely perfect.

I've been using this camera a lot with the water proof housing by Canon. The photos have been amazing. Way better than previous water proof cameras I've owned.
Another feature that really surprised me is the quality of video. Yes, this still camera takes amazing video. Similar quality to a real video camera. I'm using this for video more than my Sony Handycam.
The quality of still photos at 10 mega pixels has allowed me to shoot a lot of action sports photos from far away, then crop on my PC and get great final images to share with friends.

I use the camera as my main camera. I carry it in my blue jean pants pocket and it is the perfect size.
It takes great photos on auto, but you can use manual to help make photos to your liking.
I came from a Rebel 6.3MP and I personally feel this camera takes way better pictures, and in a much smaller package.

We bought this camera to replace an older olympus point and shoot (5 megapixels) that my 15 month old daughter threw in the tub. Not only is this camera 1/10th of the size it does everything better. The lag time is unnoticeable it is so fast, it is so easy to operate my dog could do it, and did I mention that it is tiny. I thought the tiny camera would be hard to operate like many of the other tiny cameras my peers have shown me in the past ... but it was simple and intuitive. Canon has improved on an already great product and we love it.
