I use this lens for macro and general photography. It's produced magnificent pictures than a Nikon 40mm.
Con. The switch between manual and auto focus can be a pain at times

Comments about Tokina 35mm f/2.8 AT-X M35 Pro DX Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon Digital:
What's not to like about this lens. I've got the 100mm Tokina and it's great, but as a walk around it's a little too long. This 35mm 2.8 rules as an everyday walk around lens. Sharp, well built, love the clutch to switch between af and manual focus. On a Nikon D7000 it's awesome. I can crop pics in the camera if I cannot get close enough and still have great detail. I even use this more than my 50mm 1.4 Nikon just because of the macro ability, and at F4 it's about as good as you can get.I've been using the Tokina AT-X Pro lenses for a few years now and none of them disappoint. Well worth [$]... heck it's worth more than that.

Comments about Tokina 35mm f/2.8 AT-X M35 Pro DX Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon Digital:
I had read a great nimber of positive reviews on this lens, so I decided to try it for myself. The lens imparts a special quality beyond just sharpness and tecnical accuracy. There is a depth to the images, a "roundness" as some old school shooters used to the Rolleiflex. Very happy with this lens.

Comments about Tokina 35mm f/2.8 AT-X M35 Pro DX Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon Digital:
I've had this lens for over a year. I bought it from B&H. I sold my Nikkor 35 f/1.8G. There was no comparison. The lens is better than the Nikkor as a walk-around and has the added benefit of 1:1 macro but I use it mostly for flowers and it is spectacular. Very sharp, excellent bokkeh. It is also a good portrait lens and does not have some of the distortion issues I saw with the Nikkor. The lens construction is superior to the Nikkor.
I love Nikkor products but the Tokina beats the Nikkor hands down.

Good lens to have.I had the Nikon 35 F/1.8 ,and I saw that the Tokina had less flare but more color in it's image.I used it at parks nice concentration of color. The focus speed with this lens is ah!! Okay. The Boken is not so great compared to the Nikon 35mm.Was thinking of trading it but there is nothing out there in this quality and made in Japan.Don't forget of the little macro it has that is good for the price.

Comments about Tokina 35mm f/2.8 AT-X M35 Pro DX Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon Digital:
I tried several 35mm for Nikon... and I decided with this one, mostly because of the sharpness and less chromatic aberration comparing, for example, to the Nikon 1.8G.
With this price, you get also a "macro-like" capabilities, which is worth while if you do use seldom on flowers or food.

I bought this gem to take food pictures.
pros:
built like a tank
very sharp
cons:
slow focus
overexposes, needs correction (2/3 with my lens+camera)
the a/m focus ring turns to manual mode if you are carrying your camera upside down position.

I have only really taken a few shots with this lens but the few I have taken look great. I also really like the macro feature. Since I have a D3000 the lens doesn't do AF but I like using manual focus for macro type pictures.

My wife uses the lens to shoot close-ups of flowers and other plants as well as household objects. She and I both agree that the quality of the shots is outstanding. Being new to macro photography, focusing does take some getting used to.

Comments about Tokina 35mm f/2.8 AT-X M35 Pro DX Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon Digital:
Have had this for few months now and love it. Been using it for portrait work, carry around snap shot lens and some macro stuff. Use it on a D90. So far I've found it to be very sharp, focus is fast enough for me and colors look great. It is sharp through all the f stop range from what I can see. Build quality is real good, heavy and solid. This is the first non-Nikon lens I'm happy with. I've had a Tamron and returned to BH a while back. I would recommend this lens to others

Comments about Tokina 35mm f/2.8 AT-X M35 Pro DX Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon Digital:
I bought this lens to fill a specific need and found it to be much more than I expected. The lens is very useful as a lens in the normal range for DX cameras, works well for a macro when increased working distance is not required, and produces very sharp images in all situations. I use this lens frequently with a ring light flash and the performance is impressive.

Comments about Tokina 35mm f/2.8 AT-X M35 Pro DX Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon Digital:
I am using this as my walk around lens on a D90. Pictures from tripod are amazingly crisp. Just need to work on my hand held technique for the not so close up shots. Might be a little too short for real macro work - I tend towards close ups. But even three inches away - very nice.

This is the only and most flexible macro lens in the market. Sharp, fast, light, and the macro capability is super useful.
I got Tokina 11-16, 28-70, 80-400, 100 macro, all work great. And this one is the most useful among them. Tokina rocks!!!

Used with my Nikon D300s. Solid construction. A super "walk around" lens. Much better made then the DX nikons. I love this lens.
Minor gripe, when I put the camera in my back pack the lens goes into manuel mode.
