So other than not so great low light recording, and kind of cheapy feeling construction this camera is GREAT. It feels nice in my hand, plus it lets you switch to camera, menu, and picture options all with the hand you have on the camera. Has a neat LED light to help with low light recording (but not much), but does have some filters to help with that as well. It does have outstanding 1080p and 720p picture quality outdoors and in well lit areas. I really like the position of the battery and memory card compartments. Plus this camera will allow you to shutter the lens when not in use...VERY NICE. You can take high quality still photos in addtion to HD video. This camera is for recording your kid on Christmas morning or at her soccer game, not for shooting a movie. I have also found it to be nice for using in my insurance business for property reviews. Please be aware that this camera hooks up to your HD TV through component cables, NOT HDMI, this was not apparent when purchasing this camera through BH, but I did verify through DXG customer service prior to purchase.

For [$] it is hard to beat. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it preforms well and is easy to use. I'm using the 720p @ 60fps for an industrial application where I need to video things moving at a fast pace and this camera met my needs.Battery last about 2hrs when recording continuously.

This camera,for the money isnt too bad,the 1080p mode is not as clear as the 720p mode,is it possible that the 1080p processing chip is defective? it is very easy to operate,the software is fair but nothing special,wish it had hdmi output.

I have been using it for weeks and so far it does a great job. I will throw away all my previous camcorders for this little guy. Excellent video quality @ 1080p. Very easy to use. The only problem is if you use 8GB SD memory, just delete the video and pictures, but don't format the memory. If I used the camcorder to format the memory, the next time when I shooting the video it will give me memory error. This doesn't happen on 4GB, 2GB and 1GB SD memory I have tested. So if you want to play safe, use the 4GB SD memory and you will not have any problem. For the price I paid and the quality of the video, I am very happy with the purchase. For the camera part, it also takes pretty decent pictures.

Used for HD shooting of a race car. Frame rate and quality are really good. A bit lacking in low light conditions but for the price you can't go wrong.

Has some focus hunting issues. 1080P is very good, but you lose 60fps and EIS of 720P which is noticably less quality.SD card is write protected from USB interface.BH lowered price $10 a couple of weeks after I bought it.

I have been using the camera for test footage for a project im working on in film school.These tests include mostly green screen work. Although the auto-focus kinda screws things up from time to time, I have been able to successfully key out all green screens.I really wish that the auto-focus was a manual focus. That is the biggest dissapointment, but I haven't done the firmware upgrade which is suppose to help out.Anyways, its a great camera especially for home movies, I mean hey for 200 bucks you get a 1080p camera that looks pretty darn good. There are some cool film-like mods you can do to this camera as well to make it look more professional that you cannot neccesarily do for other cameras.I highly reccomend this camera to anyone. this little camera packs a powerful surprise in how great the recordings come out. We used this for Christmas Eve after having read a few other reviews online. The sound is good, the exposure surprisingly good, as the cam was pretty much aimed into the sun most of the time and the image did not come out as silhouette or dark. The camera is very easy to use and was quick out of the box...only needed a bit of time to charge the battery-charger comes w/the camera. By the way, go to [...] and get yourself an extra battery (NP-120 Li-Ion Battery for Fuji)or 2 for only a few bucks & you'll always be ready to record. Also went with an 8Mb HD card, also from [...] and very affordable...this is a short and quick review. If you're a higher end gear type or a pro or enthusiast, this probably won't work for you...as it lacks a number of features like IS or low light shooting, but if you're considering this product as a very inexpensive way to record moments or to introduce someone to videography, for the $$ I would do it!

I had my doubts at first about this camcorder really being true HD but it quickly proved me wrong. It records 30 fps in 1080p and 60 fps in 720p (I use this setting the most). It has standard definition settings, BUT why use THEM if you are buying an HD camcorder. You can see very clearly from the 3" color lcd screen. You can playback HD video to your monitor or HD TV via the componite cord which is included...very nice. You can also playback video on the camcorder it self with sound. No more cassettes to deal with...this baby stores all of it's information on an SDHC card (preferably 8GB class 6), which is a little over thee hours of video 720p at 60 fps. You can get more time if you go to 720p at 30 fps, but why would you want to do that? Buy two 8GB SDHC cards (about[$] each) and you won't have to worry about it. It takes the NP-120 battery, which you can get on [...] for around 6 or 7 bucks including shipping. Battery life can go quick because of the big 3" screen, BUT there is a setting to dim the screen to use less power...I choose more batteries and a bright screen. On a tripod, this camcorder is unbelievable! It does have an Electronic Image Stabilization feature that works very well. But with a good tripod, you can flow from right to left, up and down, and zoom in and out like a pro. This camcorder is does not just shoot video...It is also a 3, 5, or 8 mega-pixel digital still camera with a built in flash (the flash is a constant light, if you want, when shooting video). I bought two and use one for personal use and one at work (I'm an art teacher/photographer) and thinking about getting another one just because it is such a great deal. Don't be scared by the DXG name...I think it is a branch of Fuji, since Fuji camera are the only other camcorders that use the NP-120 battery. It has a 1-year warranty, but I have not had to use. You will not be disappointed with this HD camcorder. Get one...or two for that matter and tell all of your friends about this amazing deal.

very small and lightweight, perfect for travellers who loves to document their trip. Takes only a few minutes and you'll learned every buttons and their uses.

audio is bad and shooting in macro is not so good.

Very easy to use, great video quality , greate image stabilizer, greate color , same like expensive HD camcorder. Works with all light condition. Video clearity & sharpness is great even after converting High def to dvd standard. When zooming the sound is reduced to avoid noise, no firmware upgrade is required because The zooming speed & smoothness is very good comparing to the sound mute problem. This problem can be avoided later at the time of editing video. Overall this camcorder can challange by price to all branded manufacturers.

For the money, this camera works great! It eliminates the digitizing time when using mini-dv tapes. I would recommend this camera to mostly beginners.

I am a college student and I bought this camera because it had basic features and was comparatively inexpensive. It is small and very easy to take with you. It is not complicated to use and has a fantastic large viewing screen. It does tend to get a little finger-printy because of the shiny surface, but that's a minor detail. One thing I don't particularly like is the fact that the volume involuntarily decreases when you zoom. I feel like that if the zoom motor did show up, then it should be an editing fix. It is a great, basic camera. The steady shot is great. It zooms very close. I'm overall very pleased with this purchase.

I ordered this camera mainly because it had received such great ratings elsewhere. To be honest, I did not expect much for the price, but I was pleasantly surprised. The video quality is really quite good. It has a shake reduction feature, but this feature is not available in 1080p. So to shoot 1080p, one is really limited to a tri-pod. One other item: the camera does not come with an SD card (understandable given the price) so be sure to get an SD card when purchasing this camera.
