Use of this lens collar with Arca flip lock mounts, while possible, will not yield optimal performance and is not recommend. Use with a Kirk quick release or mount an additional Arca plate to the bottom of the collar for Arca mounts.
The Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar is specifically designed for the Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S lens. It is designed to provide maximum lens support, with quick, accurate, smooth rotation and positive locking in any position.
Precisely machined from lightweight 6061T6 aluminum, the base is made to fit a Kirk Arca Swiss-type quick release clamp. In addition, instead of only one point of support, the NC-300 provides an additional point of support for the lens at the other end of its plate.

Comments about Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar for Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S Lens:
I got this Kirk lens collar to replace my stock 300mm f/4 AF-S lens when I purchase the lens from B&H. It is easy to install and better holding. I do not need to buy additional tripod plate for it as I just remove teh plate I used on my camera and atatch it to this Kirk NC-300. Nicely fit and looks much nicer too.

Comments about Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar for Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S Lens:
Does the job very well, no movement at all on the tripod, and provides a much more stable feel than the stock tripod mount. Not much heavier than the stock mount either so don't have any problem taking it with me in the field.

This is the lens collar that Nikon should have designed in the first place but didn't. Kirk did it right.

Comments about Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar for Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S Lens:
I often use the Nikon AFS 300mm lens with a 1.4 or 1.7 TC. I can now shoot at about half the shutter speed I was using and get sharp results. This collar is pratically a requirement over the Nikon collar if you want sharp images at slower shutter speeds.

This a must have sturdy replacement collar for the loose and wobbly stock collar that comes with the nikon 300mm f/4 lens. It's worth the money, buy it!

I bought my lens and had trouble with the factory tripod collar. It was replaced with the Kirk collar within a few days. Excellant replacement.

Comments about Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar for Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S Lens:
very well made product and makes it easier to use the lens while using in a tripod/monopod as well as when shooting without one. I find it comfortable holding the lens by the collar when shooting by hand. The stock collar was uncomfortable and i had to take it off.

Comments about Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar for Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S Lens:
I've read lots of reviews written by others that state that the stock lens collar is weak. I can't make any comment on that. I never have used it. All of my gear is equipped with quick release plates, or mounts, so it was a no brainer for me to buy this replacement product for use on my Nikon 300mm f/4 lens.
I can say that from looking at the construction of the two that the Kirk replacement looks to be much more substantial in build and support. I can say that the lens rotates much easier and smoother in the Kirk replacement as well.
I have put the stock collar away in the box in case I ever sell this lens due to upgrading gear.

Comments about Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar for Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S Lens:
It's much better than the collar coming with the lens by Nikon. Easy to install and remove and turn from landscape to portait and vice versa. It's solid made and is stable. What else you want more? The only negative is its price: $100 or lower is a fair price.

Comments about Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar for Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S Lens:
Read too many negative reviews of the stock collar, plus I needed the Acra-Swiss plate...bought this at the same time as my 300mm AF-S. VERY well worth it - rugged, lower profile than the original collar, and rock steady. If you buy the 300mm AF-S, do yourself a favor and get this collar right away.

Comments about Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar for Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S Lens:
This product is one that does exactly what it is supposed to do. It replaces the collar for the Nikon 300mm f/4 lens (which is simply not up to the job that it is supposed to do). Especially if you use a teleconverter (the 300mm f/4 works very well with the 1.4 teleconverter) the extra stability from the replacement collar is vital. Mated with an Arca-Swiss Tripod Head, this is an unbeatable combination.

Comments about Kirk NC-300 Replacement Lens Collar for Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S Lens:
I bought this collar as part of my new birding package, which also include the Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S lens and the Nikon TC-14EII teleconverter. This lens collar fits the lens very well and then connects nicely to my Manfrotto/Bogen ballhead (488 RC2), though I suspect it would be even better with an ArcaSwiss-style ballhead.

Necessary for the Nikkor 300mm F4.0. Good replacement part that shouldn't be needed- the stock collar is not rigid when it comes down to it.
