The Model 824 from Aphex is a fiber distribution hub for the Anaconda digital snake system. It gets hooked up as a "pass through" device between two Aphex Model 828M units. It passes the digital audio signals from one model 828M to the other as if it were not there, and gives you two additional fiber "transmit only" outputs. You can use the Model 824 to create a redundant backup of your Anaconda feed, or use it as a completely independent Anaconda system.
Expands connections for the Aphex Anaconda Digital Snake to up to four additional locations
Comprised of eight fiber transceivers, with two rows of four transceivers each
The first transceiver connects to the long fiber run from a Model 828M
The second transceiver is a 'through' with both transmit and receive connections between the first transceiver and a local Anaconda Model 828
The third and fourth transceivers are "transmit" only for connecting to a remote Model 828 or Model 828M Anaconda
The second row of transceivers is identical to the first row and can be used either as a completely independent Anaconda system or as a redundant system for the top row
If there is a break in the receive side of either of the first or second transceivers the transmitters of those receivers will be turned off
The result is that any Model 828 or 828M will automatically switch to the secondary row of transceivers on the Model 824
