Easy installation and very user friendly. If you have any interest in B&W photography, this is the way to go. My purchase included a free upgrade to Silver Efex Pro 2. I had to call Nik to get the product code for the upgrade to install and I will give Nik high marks for a very short wait-time before a live person was on the phone and answering all my questions. He gave me the upgrade product code over the phone so I didn't have to wait and have it emailed to me. All and all, a great product and a great company to deal with.

Convert color digital photos to B & W. I use it with Photoshop Elements and will use with Lightroom. The software permits working with small areas for precise control. NIK has very helpful learning on their website. I am finding the initial learning curve easy compared to other digital techniques.

Silver Efex Pro 2 is an outstanding piece of software: it's powerful and easy to use. I usually work with color but over the past year I discovered that certain kinds of images are even more stunning with the distractions of color removed. I do my preliminary processing with Elements 9 and when I feel that I have a good candidate for monochrome I just click on the "Filters" tab and go into Silver Efex. I like the way that it immediately converts into black & white and that to the left there's a variety of preview windows that give you choices of the specific b+w effects available. When you find the one you like you just click on it and then to the right there's an editing screen so that you can fine tune your image and get exactly what you want. You can then adjust the tonality and hue to make sepias, cyans and other color choices. There's also a nifty feature whereby you can hover over the histogram and examine the various "zones" aka Ansel Adams and really tweak the image. The results are high quality images far better than the b+w conversions built into Elements.

Some twit on a forum recently said you can get the same results from Photoshop that you can with SEFPro. Don't believe this.
While I've used CS5 for years to produce my monochromes and it's OK, SEFPro takes B&W to a whole new level of sophistication. And it does it in such a way that is intuitive and easy to master.
It operates as a seamless plug-in for CS5...always there within easy reach.

Produces great results. Already have created a number of great B&W images.
Had trouble at first with registering it. Had downloaded trial some time back, and had to get this removed from Nik's system. Once that was done, it registered easily enough.
Software works great in both CS5 and Lightroom 3.4. The preset changes are quite good for normal use and you can adjust beyond that with very little effort.
Quite easy to use with great results.

I selected numerous photographs for black and white processing from a European trip. Some were taken in bright sunlight and others inside of buildings that did not allow flash.
Silver Effects made it easy to add adjustments for contrast, exposure, lights and blacks without having to draw masks and add numerous layers to small sections. Light through windows and reflections in mirrors could all be adjusted easily. Small learning curve.
