I shoot for broadcast news, and I've used a lot of brands and types of windscreens. This one works about as well as any, even the much more expensive ones. It fits over the NTG2 shotgun mic snugly, and can cover the noise-producing hole for the low cutoff switch. I'm very happy with it.

I do a lot of outdoor videography and got this Deluxe Windshield together with a NTG2 Rode microphone that I use as an external mic with a Panasonic Lumix GH-2. It does the job well if conditions aren't that windy, but as soon as the breeze gets fresh or strong this windscreen isn't enough.

Comments about Rode WS6 Deluxe Windshield for the NTG2 and NTG1 Microphones:
It keeps the wind out of recordings. Slides perfectly onto the Rode NTG-2. It is expensive but it really makes a difference in the quality of your recordings. It does a much better job compared to the standard foam "windscreen" which hardly does anything with winds over 3 MPH. BEWARE: It does have a big outer diameter. I use it mounted in a Sony EX1 and with the camera zoomed out it captures the "dead-cat" on the top right. After a few times taking it on and off the rubber end fell off. Just added a little more glue and have not have trouble with it. While it is not a blimp, this does a far better job than not having anything or using the foam one!

I use this with my NTG2 for ENG use and on a boom for production work. Just did an interview the other day outside in 30mph winds for a news story and there was absolutely no wind noise in the audio. Rode's windshield is as good, if not better, than Rycote's but cost half the price.

It's not like a zeppelin but it does the job. The only concern I have is that you loose some of the fur when you use it a lot!

Comments about Rode WS6 Deluxe Windshield for the NTG2 and NTG1 Microphones:
I bought this with my Rode NTG-1 and it works exactly as advertised. Most recently I used it on a windy day shooting a "talking head" piece in a park and any and all wind noise was cut to zero.
I chose this over a similar Pearstone model which was only $20 less. I can't justly compare it to the Pearstone because I never tried that model, but for those few bucks more I felt more confident buying this since it was designed with the NTG-1 (and NTG-2) specifically in mind.

Comments about Rode WS6 Deluxe Windshield for the NTG2 and NTG1 Microphones:
This is a giant windshield and gets the job done. I use it with my Rode NTG-2 attached to Zoom H4N. In extreme winds (like we have here in UAE), there is some wind noise added to your recordings. So my advice is to wait for it to get a little less windy. Otherwise it is a great buy.

Uses for this are obvious. Wind? You need it. Surprising how well this works. 4 stars from me because the price still frustrates me a bit.

It works like its suppose to. Its a non zip style and slides over the mic. I'm sure it will work with other mics. I bought this because the other cheaper Rode dead cat was out of stock.

When the budget doesn't allow for a sound recordist on a shoot, this windshield allows me to mount my NTG2 mic on the camera, eliminating all wind noise and still lets me record great sound.

Good all around fuzzy. Solid rubber skeleton. Not for use with existing shotgun foam windscreen. Good size for shorter shotguns.
