The Nikon Coolpix P6000 Digital Camera takes precision and creativity to another level. The camera's superb image quality is guaranteed by an effective 13.5 megapixels, the wide-angle 4x zoom NIKKOR lens including 2 ED glass, an optical vibration reduction (VR) lens and a maximum ISO of 6400 to ensure low-light situations are no excuse for a missed photographic opportunity. Underneath, the Nikon EXPEED image processing engine produces fast response times, clean and sharp images without any compromises.
The built-in GPS, RAW support, and integrated Ethernet connector for image sharing via Nikon's 'my Picturetown' make it one of the most advanced compact cameras on the market today. Thanks to its attractive, intelligent design with an SLR-like grip for perfect handling, user-friendly button layout and 2.7-inch high-resolution TFT screen, it's easy to use - allowing you to concentrate on the shooting. The camera also captures images in Coolpix Raw file format (.NRF) which provides all of the latitude and non-destructive image adjustments afforded to digital SLR owners are.
The P6000 has a strong photographic foundation with the advanced metering, aperture, shutter and ISO controls that more serius photographers enjoy, meshed with a few perks gleaned from its more automated and simpler point & shoot Coolpix cousins. - 13.5 Megapixels for Superb Image Quality
- The Coolpix P6000 provides 13.5 effective megapixels of resolution from its 1/1.7-inch RGB CCD so you'll be able to print images of superb quality at Poster size, or crop to focus on details without any loss of image quality. The improved high-performance image -processing engine, further enhances the resulting image quality and provides incredible color.
- 4x Wide-angle Zoom Nikkor ED Lens
- The 4x optical zoom lens uses Nikon's world renowned optical technology with two ED Glass elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and get you sharp, crisp pictures, and deliver clear, crisp images. The lens is capable of taking wide angle shots with a focal range of 28-112mm (35mm equivalent). There is also a 4x digital zoom that can be combined for a total zoom of 16x. The lens also supports macro shooting with the capability to shoot as close as 1.6 inches.
- Optical Vibration Reduction Image Stabilization
- The Nikon VR Image Stabilization system incorporated into the NIKKOR Lens compensates for camera shake resulting in sharper images - even when shooting under unsteady conditions such as on a boat, and provides the ability to shoot at shutter speeds as much as three stops slower without blurring the image for sharper natural light images. In addition, the VR system provides faster and clearer framing on the cameras monitor as well as smoother action when using the movie mode.

- The camera incorporates Nikon's latest EXPEED Image Processor to ensure high-quality pictures with stunning color and sharpness. The EXPEED Image Processor - part of Nikon's comprehensive digital imaging processing concept incorporates the know-how and the technologies acquired throughout Nikon's long history of photographic and digital imaging development, and renders natural-looking pictures of incredible quality while also providing quick responsiveness so you won't miss that special moment.
- Versatile Shooting Modes
- The camera provides both automatic and manual exposure control options including Programmed Auto (P) that automatically selects shutter and aperture settings for optimal exposure; Shutter-priority Auto (S) lets the photographer automatically select a desired shutter speed; Aperture-priority Auto (A) that provides 10-step control over the aperture setting; and a Manual (M) exposure mode that gives the photographer full control over both aperture and shutter speed settings. There is also a Live Histogram Function that graphically indicates shadow and highlight levels to help you avoid under/over exposure before shooting.
- Optimize Image Options
- Easily accessed optimization options help user to tailor results to the scene at hand or the intended use of the image. Image sharpening, tone compensation, color, saturation and hue adjustments are all easily controlled by the user, right in the camera. There is also a choice of color modes available including Normal, Softer, Vivid, More Vivid, Portrait, Custom or Black and White options.
- Fully Customizable Operation
- The Coolpix P6000 applies many of the practical user customization features found on Nikon's digital SLR cameras. This includes the Command dial and customizable Fn (Function) button that allows quick switching of settings, a custom shooting menu for quick access to regularly used selections, as well as the efficient of its tabbed menu interface. Plus, the Mode dial provides quick control over the advanced Programmed Auto, Shutter-priority Auto, Aperture-priority Auto, and Manual exposure modes.
- Sturdy and Lightweight Camera Body with User-friendly Controls
- The Coolpix P6000 has a a solid body that features a magnesium alloy front panel for durability in a lightweight package, while the comfortable rubberized grip make the camera extremely easy to hold. Furthermore, the intuitive interface makes navigating and selecting images straightforward and provides quick and easy access to advanced functions for enhancing or correcting images.
- Coolpix RAW mode
- The Coolpix P6000 digital camera allows you to take and edit pictures in COOLPIX RAW (.NRW) format, and COOLPIX in-camera Picture Control (based on the technology from Nikon's award winning D-SLRs) allows the user to flexibly control shooting settings - even after the shot has been taken. RAW (.NRW) files can also be edited with Nikon ViewNX Software or with WIC-based applications.
- High ISO Capability
- The Coolpix P6000 makes it easier to take great-looking pictures in lower lighting conditions, or to capture fast moving subjects with outstanding clarity thanks to its high sensitivity with Auto Adjusts up to ISO 6400 (ISO 3200 and ISO 6400 settings are available at 3MP or lower resolution), while its image-processing engine with enhanced noise reduction preserves high image quality when shooting at high ISO settings.
- 1:1 Format Image Capture
- Shoot pictures with a more traditional framing and composition thanks to the 1:1 (square) format option. the camera also provides 2:3 format for easier printing and 16:9 format for viewing on wide format video displays.
- Nikon In-Camera Innovations
- The Coolpix P6000 incorporates Nikon In-Camera innovations including In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, Face Priority AF, and D-Lighting. The Nikon In-Camera Red-Eye Fix system automatically corrects for most instances of the red-eye effect that is commonly caused by the use of a built-in flash on a compact camera. The Face-Priority AF system automatically detects and achieves sharp focus on people's faces wherever they are in the frame for crisp, sharp portraits. The Nikon D-Lighting feature can rescue underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight by automatically brightening the dark areas in the picture, while maintaining the brighter areas of the image.
- Movie and Voice Recording
- Shoot QuickTime movies with sound at VGA resolution with a frame rate of 30 fps at a clip length that is only limited by the available space on the internal memory or your SD memory card. The Voice Memo Function Records up to 20 seconds of sound that can then be attached to an image.
- GPS Capability
- Use the camera's GPS capability to automatically geotag your photos with the exact location of where you shot that picture. Then Upload your pictures directly to my Picturetown and conduct searches based on the location of where your pictures were taken. Geotag data can also be accessed with Nikon's ViewNX software or any other website or software that can handle Geotags.
- Bright 2.7" LCD & Optical Zoom Viewfinder
- The High-Resolution LCD Display is bright enough to be clearly viewable under most shooting conditions and its large 2.7" size means that you can easily share pictures with family and friends right on the spot, while the incorporation of the high-quality optical viewfinder enables you to easily frame your images even under the most difficult lighting conditions and provides precision framing that is well suited to macro photography.
- Wired Network Connection
- The camera's Wired LAN network connection in combination with 'my Picturetown' enables viewing and uploading of your pictures anytime, anywhere. Simply connect the camera to a wired LAN using an Ethernet cable, and the camera will automatically upload your pictures to Nikon's my Picturetown photo storage and sharing service. The service provides the ability for you to store up to 2GB of image files for free.
- Built-in and Expandable Memory
- The camera includes 48 MB of built-in memory, and the memory capacity can be expanded dramatically with Secure digital (SD) or Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards.
- Print Directly to a Printer or Show Pictures on a TV
- You can send images directly to print, without the need of a PC, when using PictBridge and USB Direct Print compatible printers, or connect directly to your TV for family slide shows and presentations.
