Perfect for the Pro freelancer who may be seeing fewer clients in these difficult economic times. The specs on this scanner for the price are excellent. My old scanner broke but I had a job of scanning 90 slides for an artist and well just didn't have the money for new equipment.
At 600 dpi for a final image size of 6x8 this scanner will do 4 slides in 9 minutes. Not great but for the price not bad! The software is also fine for most but if your pro you probably already have your own anyway. I have had the scanner for a month now and all and all I'm very satisfied.

I bought this unit because of my faith in Epson products. I was shocked when after only a dozen scans, it broke down. The repair facility tested the unit and said a circuit or some other part burned out. I am extremely careful with my equipment and did not abuse this scanner in anyway. There was no power surge or spike. Nothing was out of the ordinary. It simply burned out in 2 months . I used it only once in a while. I previously owned a Canon with the same price and it lasted for years and years. The only reason I had to get a new scanner is because the drivers were not available to go with my new Mac.

I use this scanner to scan my black and white negatives. I found the software to be easy to use, but took some trial and error to load my negatives and remove the scanner mat.
Overall I am happy with this product and my scanner is worth the price.

Easy to use. Good quality and great price. I have scanned almost 1000 old 35mm negatives since I got the scanner two weeks ago. The photos came out really good.

Comments about Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
So far I've scanned nearly 200 35mm mounted slides, many of them 50 to 60 years old that have been stored in boxed carousels. It's a slow process, four at a time, but the results have been good and now these old slides can be shared digitally with all the family members.

Comments about Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
I've got a big photo digitizing project going, I decided to purchase the V300 to get the job done. It's definately faster with the LED technology and when you place multiple pictures on the glass it recognizes them as separate pictures and saves them individually, what a time saver! It will enhance the picture as well, but to do a custom job you need to open pictures individually. Good bang for the buck.

Comments about Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
Good value and it does a nice job scanning documents and photos, but it's fairly large in size for just scanning documents and photos. Size is driven primarily by its capabilities to scan film strips and slides. Alas, the film carriage is not up to the task of holding slides. If scanning slides in one of your needs, pass on this model.

The scanner was easy to setup. I have scanned slides and negative with great results. Using a photo brush to clean any dust of the slides and negatives first helps with quality of the scan. I would recommend this product to others.

I've only had the Epson V300 for a few weeks but find it extremely easy to use with great quality. I've been using it to convert very old 35mm slides to digital and it works great.

Comments about Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
I bought this unit mainly to scan 35mm slides. Upon receiving it I got started. My slides were in good condition so I used the FULLY AUTOMATIC SETTING but changed the DPI setting to 600 which gives you a photo size of 3599 x 2421 at 1.12mb. It is slow but I read the reviews on other Epson scanners that were priced higher and the reviews said they were slow also. As of today I have scanned over 1000 slides. At the setting I stated above it takes about seven minutes to scan four slides. I have had no problems at all with the unit. Good scanner for the price.

I wanted a general purpose scanner that could also handle 35 mm slides. It works very well for every need that I have used it for.

Comments about Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
I tried to use this scanner with a brand new Windows 7 (64 bit) desktop and an older Windows XP (32 bit) desktop. In each case the scanner performed okay in the Epson Scan mode although how it handles files after scanning seemed unfriendly to me. In neither case did the scanner buttons work properly. An error message indicates that the Epson Events Manager could not find a driver.
I spent over 4 hours on the phone with Epson customer service representatives but they were totally stumped.

I just got this last week, easy to use. did not read manual.Great black and white and the color has been called "cinematic".I have thousands of negs and slides to scan and want to do a book or two on the 60`s. this makes it so much easier to see what i got, and post to facebook.I saw one person said carrier was flimsy, when when you handle negs should be gentle anyhow. So i bring my darkroom touch and scan away till my hearts content.

Comments about Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
I have scanned several 100 pictures since I received this scanner about 2 weeks ago. I haven't played around with it all that much, but I do like the auto features like color restoration and backlight correction. This is my first scanner, so the only thing I have to compare it to is my printer's scanner which stinks compared to this one. I especially like that you can load multiple pictures, and instead of having to 'make a copy' and crop, it recognizes that they are different pictures. Thought at first that the back hinges were too flimsy, but then I realized it's made that way to accomodate photo albums and such that are thick. Another great feature. All in all, a great little scanner!

Primarily using this to scan old photos to create digital photo libraries, but another great function I found was the document converter. I have lots of old documents that in print format that I have been working at re-typing into my computer so I can have an electronic version. This scanner will scan the documents into an editable word format with about 99% accuracy. I am recreating these old documents in a tenth of the time. Love this!

Comments about Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
I had to scan old slides and some photos. The photo part wasn't difficult at all. The slides were. The software has a learning curve - big time! There is a learning curve to this slide scanning, however. I had some slides that were long length-wise, but others were square, so the square ones were being cut off. I don't know how I resolved anything, but I just kept messing with it and it worked... I did eventually google the issue and found that by unchecking "thumbnail" it seemed to help the problem. Otherwise, the scans and photos both came out very nice.

Comments about Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
My family wanted to scan some old 35mm color slides to turn into photobooks. I have used the Epson V300 slide attachment to scan about 200 slides. Each batch of 4 slides took about 4 minutes at a low resolution. The quality was good and the jpeg format is useful for many book publishing websites. The only concern I had was figuring out which scan mode was the easiest for my needs. Overall, I am happy with the product and would recommend it for digitizing 35mm slides on a Mac. Just make sure you get the dust off since it will scan that too!
