Comments about Mitsubishi HC5500 LCD Home Theater Projector:
I use this projector for blu-ray movies on the PS3 and video games on the PS3 and XBOX 360. The image looks fantastic and bright even in low lamp mode. At 1080p the image is crisp even at 120" diagonal. Other than image quality the most striking thing about this projector is how quiet it is. I previously had a Mitsubishi 1500 with a DLP color wheel that emitted a noise that would drive anyone insane. But this Mitsubishi projector is great. With no DLP color wheel spinning, the only noise I hear is a low fan hum which is quieter that my PS3 (which is very quiet). There is now nothing that takes me out of my movie watching or game playing experience. Setup is a breeze with all of the zoom and focus controls on the easy to use remote. You can make adjustments in fast mode to rough it in and then switch to step mode to dial the focus is exactly right for the sharpest image possible. It took me less than 10 minutes from opening the box to salivating at the image quality of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. I would recommend this projector to anyone interested in upgrading to 1080p projection!
The only thing I would caution is that this projector is quite large and emits a lot of heat. Make sure that you place it in a location with enough space around it for proper ventilation. That being said, I haven't had a single problem with it or seen a temperature warning pop up. And I have used it for hours upon hours upon hours on end.

Comments about Mitsubishi HC5500 LCD Home Theater Projector:
Finding the right projector by viewing Home Theater Projectors on 4 websites has been a full time job. Glad I did it! The images and smooth transitions from light to lighter and Dark to very dark is what the HC5500 Mitsubishi was made for. Fantastic clearity and the hardest part was setting the machine and flipping a button. I bought a Ceiling/Wall mount and decided to mount it on the wall. The remote controll is very easy to use. Instructions are kept to a minimum and perfectly understandable. You will find this unit ready to go out of the box. I like the option of all the imputs. We have used HDMI for viewing movies and the other HDMI for Game playing. I hooked up a Component (red, blue, green)cable to my DVD player and all are running 25 to 30 foot runs and working fantastic. The long run did`nt seem to make a difference..they all work great. Anyone can do this project. This was our first install and everything worked extremely well. Mitsubishi has lots of information on their website to help decide between the new LCD or the new DLP technology. We were told by the Geek at the box store that Mitsubishi was the best rated and consitstenly scored higher than other brands...we`re finding that to be true. Contrast is very good and the lumens worried me at first but, after using this unit in day and night I find the Lamp to be just perfect. Would`nt need a brighter lumen rating unless you have the lights on in the room...we usually view with a light or lights on in the next room with a 6 foot doorway and you would not even know that there on. Extremely satisfied with my HC5500 and would for sure buy one if someone took mine away.

Comments about Mitsubishi HC5500 LCD Home Theater Projector:
I haven't found any downfalls for this projector yet. It has plenty of inputs for hdmi, computer, etc. I plugged in a regular video cable just to test in regular light on a wall and it looks amazing. I can't wait to hook it up hdmi and have a crisp image. For an HD projector I couldn't find anything that was comparable for price to features. I was also looking at Optima projectors.

Comments about Mitsubishi HC5500 LCD Home Theater Projector:
It really is, the image is very sharp, the colors are awesome and the iris responds instantly. Starts and shuts down much faster, and performs much better, than a more expensive Sony projector that I had for a few weeks before this.

Comments about Mitsubishi HC5500 LCD Home Theater Projector:
Installation and setup was pretty easy. You just need to be aware of your desired screen size and location before mounting. This unit only has a vertical lens shift so it needs to be mounted on center with the screen.
Right out of the box the unit gave a great picture. Even with some lighting on in the room it still produced a nice image. I haven't changed any settings yet, but will play around more when i have time.
As far as price goes, i thought it was perfect considering i'm using it with a 92" widescreen.
Also, fan noise is non-existent.
