This is a convenient midrange point and shoot camera that is able to capture sharp images in bright and daylight lighting. Low light images require a flash otherwise the image is noisy (grainy). This was purchased since it uses non-proprietary batteries, it uses AA's which are available anywhere. The creative modes work well to adjust minor settings on a point and shoot but you need the proper lighting to compensate the shots. Overall, I recommend this camera, it is affordable, takes very good images and video and uses common batteries.

I've owned many digital point and shoots and within this family have owned both the A80 and the A630...Both of those cameras were great as they have the rotating lcd screen. This one does not. My major problem with this camera is the time it takes for the flash to recharge before shooting again. It literally takes up to six seconds. I've never experienced that bad of a shutter lag. I wouldn't recommend the camera for that purpose. Otherwise, the camera is fine even though it does have a silly "easy" function.

This is my second Cannon, and I've been happy with both. This camera is affordable, light weight, and takes beautiful pictures. Also, the AA batteries last a long time and convenient to replace anywhere I am using my camera.

Bought it as a Pocketable Camera to carry when I don't wish to carry a more cumbersome camera
Got it a couple of days ago and have played a lot with the Menu Items and have taken over a hundred photos and have not yet changed Batteries..
Bought one P&S camera without an Optical Viewfinder and will never buy another without it.

I wanted a camera small enough to keep in my purse for all those "Kodack" moments. Wanted the flexibility to take artsy shots or quick snaps. Needed an optical viewfinder since I often shoot in bright light. Wanted a camera that was easy to use right out of the box. I got all of that PLUS video, face recognition, editing features and tons of fancy auto settings. My only regret is that is takes AA batteries (I am using rechargables)-they don't last long.

This is a good travel camera or for use as a backup. It uses AA batteries; has an optical view finder. Some of us still use this, and Canon still makes several cameras with this feature. The Powershot A1000IS is a lot of camera for the money: 10 Megapixels, easy setup, compact, etc.
I would recommend purchasing some rechargeable batteries, and a Sandisk 4 megs SD card

I purchased this camera as a gift to my son for Christmas. I was really impressed by the IQ out of this little cam compared to a much more expensive Sony I gave to my wife last year. Not as good as an SLR but pretty good for Facebook and MySpace use. It has all the basic settings and more megapixels.

Comments about Canon PowerShot A1000 IS Digital Camera (Blue):
For the price, this camera is wonderful. It doesn't have some of the fancy features that more expensive cameras have, but it had plenty to make the average photo-taker happy. It is very compact and a handsome color/style, large bright LCD screen, and takes great photos and movies. I haven't compared the photo quality closely to other brands, but it seems great to me!

This is a great little camera, I have a Canon digital SLR and 40 pounds of glass to go along with it... but sometimes you just want something that will fit in you jacket pocket. I love this camera it was a good buy.

Comments about Canon PowerShot A1000 IS Digital Camera (Blue):
It takes great pictures under normal use! I have only tried it on AUTO, but even low light shots were good. If you take event pictures you may find that it takes a little long to "recharge" before you can take another shot after you have taken several. Even after replacing the batteries I found it a little slow after a lot of use.

We bought this for our daughter who wanted a small, but "good" camera that she could stick in her pocket. She found that it had all the features that she wanted in order to give her sharp, clear pictures without a lot of fussing.

My boyfriend and I bought this camera to bring along for all of the perfect pictures one may run into on the go... I love this camera, the resolution and quality of the photos are incredible. The LCD screen is large and the settings are simple to use and very helpful. We plan to use the camera doing a lot of back country skiiing this year in Colorado...
