Vanguard BA-185 Reviews

The adapter is a little fat for roof prism, but heavy duty!

This review will not show up verified because I purchased it from another online retailer (the huge one with their own delivery vans). Since they no longer allow me to review, for no apparent reason, I now review here! Please note that despite the bottom of this adapter looking like it supports Arca Swiss tripod heads, it does not. You will need to attach your own Arca Swiss tripod plate to it (I use the orange one from 3 Legged Thing). I am currently using this tripod mount with my Bushnell Engage X 10x42 Binoculars, and frequently use it out in the wild (I am a nature photographer). The binoculars I'm using it with are roof prism binoculars with less clearance between the barrels, and due to how fat the adapter is, I find it a bit hard attaching my binoculars to the adapter. I usually have to be very careful and thread the adapter between the 2 barrels, which is somewhat annoying (hence subtracting 1 star), however this adapter is heavy duty and once you thread it in between your binoculars, it will hold it relatively steady. (I wish I can show you what I mean but the photos keep failing to upload on B&H.) My binoculars do twist a tiny bit on the pivot, but I think that is expected for every binocular. This adapter keeps my binocular more steady on the tripod for viewing than other adapters I have tried. Overall it is a really nice adapter.

I bought this accessory for my Dad's birthday along with the trip to mount his binoculars on. My Dad was extremely happy and it was easy to assemble and mount on the tripod. This was a great product and you gave awesome fast shipping service along with the tripod. Perfect in every way. Thank you B&H!! Best regards, Diane

Does this work with Nikon Monarch 7 (8*30)? What's the width/length of the mounting plate at the bottom?

I have a Vanguard mount. Base is 1 3/8” x 1 1/4”. Height is 3 1/8”. The base has two screw holes that tripod plate can screw into. I would say it would fit any good quality binoculars that have a centre screw port on the bridge. Cheers
