Using this magnifier has made a huge difference in the sharpness of focusing from 50mm lense and up. I have used it with a f1 Noctilux wide open, where focusing dead on is critical, and have noted an improvement in the number of focused pictures achieved.

Does exactly what you expect & is of the highest quality as you would expect from Leica. It is just a little uncomfortable on your eye as it protrudes from the camera body.

I was having trouble focusing my M9 with 90mm f2.0 lens. I ordered this magnifier to help solve my problem. I wear reading glasses, so I also ordered a +2.0 diopter lens. When they arrived, I screwed the diopter lens onto the magnifier and installed them both on my camera. They work perfectly and solve my out of focus photos with my 90mm lens. The device comes with a small case which clips onto the camera strap. When you change lenses, it stores very neatly and is always ready when needed.

Expensive, but well worth the investment if you have trouble focusing with a 50, 75 or 90mm Leica lens.

I currently own three Leica lenses (Noctilux, 28 'Cron and 75 'Cron). I've used this magnifier with the Noc and 75 and found the magnification was just what I needed for more accurate focusing. This magnifier is particularly useful with the Noc. I am nearly 60, average poor eyesight and I don't like to squint when looking through a view finder. I can confirm that using this magnifier does indeed allow you to reduce or even eliminate the need to squint one eye; your face is placed back from the viewfinder just enough that you can keep both eyes open and take in the full view before you. A much appreciated improvement in the photo framing and shooting process.

I have the M7 and M9 and own the magnifier 1.25. I purchased the 1.4 to try to get greater magnification but found indoors the darkness of my rangefinder was to great. At the same time it was helping with focus it was hindering me just to see the focus patch. I sent the 1.4 back, it may work for you it didn't for me.

It is the best gadget for the Leica rangefinder.
I have shot film and now digital on an "M" camera since the '70s and am delighted with the improvement in ease and speed of focusing this small tool provides.
A definite must have.

For some of us old timers who's eye's ain't what they used to be, the leica 1.4x, when using a longer lens, is just what you need. While I've already been using a diopter for my less than perfect vision, when I add this 1.4x to the viewfinder on a 90 mm lens, the boost in clarity is just excellent. So I can run around with my M6, capturing those moments with the response and speed I need, instead of fumbling around with the focus and wondering if it is really dead on, or not..... and not knowing until the proofs come back.

Being a leica product, the quality is excellent. And its so tiny, after you've had it on your camera for a day, you'll forget its an add on and just think of it as part of the camera.

I bought this item to add to my Leica M7 to aid me in focusing. And guess what? It works! Focusing with both eyes open is natural and effective. The focus prism in the viewfinder is enlarged enough that I can more easily see when I'm in focus.
