WORKS WELL FOR BACKGROUNDS

I use this over ND gel any day. Lots to like: -Easy to cut with scissors -Wont crinkle or fold like ND -Has a matte side to cut reflections I use gaff to tape it up and when I'm done, the tape comes off clean and I'm able to reuse if the pieces are worth saving. You must throw this out of focus or it will moire. It also cannot be doubled up. To my eye it drops the level by around 2 stops but I never measured. It's found a permanent place in my interview kit.

Doesn't cause additional reflections like an ND gel. My go-to for darkening windows behind the subject when shooting videos.

On the Rosco E-Colour # 275, there is a black side and a silver side which has a light sheen to it.

Is this the same material that is in a open faced scrim or is it more for disposable uses?

The Rosco E-Colour #275 Black Scrim (48" x 25' Roll) is a plastic/fiberglass screen material not a gel. It can be taped loosely over a window and will not show wrinkles like a gel. It can be rolled back up and reused.

Has anyone tried hanging this with ATG (snot tape)? Want to cut light on some big windows without gaffer's tape showing at edges.

Snot tape will work, it all depends on how much tape and how large of a window.

It can can be hung or taped to a frame. It its not kept flat it can cause patterns in the shadow.
