Comments about Shure PG42USB Cardioid Condenser Vocal Microphone with USB Connection:
As a college student heading towards the professional field of video/audio production I've always wanted to purchase a microphone for my growing home studio to do voice-overs.
I played around with the idea of buying an XLR mic, mixer, and digital converter for my MacBook Pro laptop, but then turned my search towards USB mics. I've used USB mics before, but found their poor frequency response and flimsy build disconcerting. Fortunately, this microphone is NOTHING like my previous experiences with USB audio. My voice-overs come through clear, crisp, and have presence above my video tracks.
I'm thoroughly impressed with this microphone, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a professional edge on their work. 5/5 stars

Product: Shure PG42USB
Purpose: Used for recording vocals/singing
Review: This is one awesome mic; highly recommended! I picked this up after getting frustrated with a much cheaper NADY USB condenser mic. Yea, I know, not even in the same league, but wow, what a difference.
I'm not a professional by any means. I'm just a hobby singer/audio creator. This mic records very clearly and allows direct plug-in of headphones into it's side headphone port for vocal monitoring with 0 latency (awesome). Also you won't have the mono or one channel not recording at full strength with this USB mic. It worked perfectly right out of the box.
Recording/Sound System Setup:
- Acoustica Mixcraft 5 (audio creation software)
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit running off a solid state hard drive
- Creative X-Fi PCI-express sound card
- Sennheiser HD595 headphones (to hear background music/instrumentals)
- Shure SE535 earbuds (used as in ear vocal monitors only)

I'm using this mic as a portable device for Voice Overs. It has a warm sound and the features are great - headphone output with volume and mic gain. I have no complaints and could rival my sound booth at home with a Sennheiser 416

I use the mic for my home studio...its great...sound quality is amazing...provides a great recording experience...only con I noticed is that it picks up a bit too much on "hiss like" sounds, like it over emphasizes on "S" sounds, but this can be taking care of through mastering ofcorse....but thats about it
