It seems like I always have computers or electronics with dust, and I hated buying cans of compressed air - the duration of the blast of air before the can chilled always seems too short for the task and it just feels wasteful to me. I figured there had to be a better alternative and this fit the bill.

And wow, it works - it's powerful and thorough. Even when I couldn't see dust, it was stil finding it!

The only Con I can come up with it so far is that it is loud, like any powerful motor with little room to insulate the sound. It's also so powerful that you really may want to consider taking the objects to clean outside. This isn't like a small blast from a can.

This product was purchased for our electricians and plumbers at work. They are working out perfectly and were just what we needed. They may be designed for computer systems, but they are definitely a multi-purpose product.

Installing RAM on my desktop Mac I was shocked to see all the dust inside, everywhere. DataVac was recommended to me and I bought it with some doubt as to whether the price was worth it. Fortunately someone recommended running the vac outdoors as it would blow a lot of dust around. Thank goodness for the recommendation and they were absolutely right.

The DataVac worked like a charm, blew out years of dust from every nook and cranny in the computer, leaving it looking like new. I also carefully blew out the disk drive as at times it was not reading discs, most likely due to all the dust collected inside.

Both the computer and the drive work perfectly and are nice and dust free.

Great that DataVac that it plugs in (unlike canned air), that it uses no chemicals which might leave a residue. For me DataVac was a good buy and good value for the money.

A few reviews mentioned that the blower is quite strong and to use with care. I had no problem with this in the computer but might not use it on a camera.

Overall I am VERY happy with this product.

I run a computer repair business and was using several cans of air per month until I bought the DataVac. This will pay for it's self in just a few months. Good steady stream of high volume air makes a PC filled with 'fur' look like a new one!

It's a little pricey but it works quite well. I was able to blow dust out of the PC that the canned air couldn't do. I could also use the flex straw to get under my heat sink and video card, which I was unable to do using canned air(had to put it sideways or upside down which would have released the liquid, not good). It's quite noisy and can get warm, but overall not bad.

wow I thought - Hmmm I wonder if this unit will blow that hard - wow I blows better than a can-of-air does - now it does get hot quick - but I never blow things out for 5 mins so it's just fine
- a can only blows well for a short time - when it gets cold the can doesn't blow as hard - and it comes with a lots attachments

We were using a lot of canned air in our workroom so we have saved some money since we purchased this electric duster and it works GREAT! The technicians liked it so much we now have 3 of them.

The ED500 is a Beast! I use it everyday to clean out anything and everything electronic:

PC's, Servers, Gaming Consoles, Keyboards, Mice, I even use it to blow out that nasty sticky dust you find in those poor neglected heat-sink blades. Simply put, a can of air... well it just won't do what this Monster will.

Here's what I love:
The DataVac is built like a flippin tank.
The DataVac has HIGH CFM airflow.
The DataVac has a long cord.
The DataVac cost about the same as one case of air.

Here's what I don't love:
Good night, this beast is loud. But don't let that bother you. It's WELL worth it. In fact, I would suggest that with the money you save, you could buy a set of ear plugs and be safe. The noise will not detour you lurking around your home and/or office trying to find things to blow dust/dirt off of.

The heat. It gets warm. Not hot, but warm. And I've heard that some people have issues with that. I on the other hand have not.
I could see if you're using this thing to blow dry your hair, or to dry your car... then yeah maybe it'll give you issues, but if you're using this like you would say a 'can of air' then you're not going to have an issue.

Modifications?
The button is make for people who are right handed. I'm left handed, but I got over it.

The power of this unit will SHOOT the attachments across the room if they are not attached correctly, I drilled a hole in some of them to make sure the 'click button' held them in place.

Stop looking around and just buy this one. You're not going to be disappointed.

I have been in the electronic repair field for a decade now and have used everything from canned air to vacuums to dust the internal components of electronics. I have never found anything as powerful and compact as the datavac! I took a chance and ordered one of these about 1.5 yrs ago and was amazed! When i left my old shop to open my own this was one of the first items i purchased!

Though not as portable as canned air, I like this unit because it is more powerful than canned air and will save me money over time.
