I have both the 1000HE and 1005. Both have the N280 Atom processor. The 1000HE is in my opinion easier on my eyes because of the mat finish on the LCD screen.

I purchased this product just for use during travel. It is small and light a convenient to carry. However it is not powerfull at all. It is slow and weak in reception of wifi.

I just needed a screen bigger than that on my phone to check my email and browse the Web, and it is nice be able to do some word processing for school. This is a compact, inexpensive solution that fills the bill.

I recently bought this netbook. Its awesome and working as expected. battery works for almost 9 hours, sound quality is good, didn't find any issue with performance.

This laptop is great for taking to work, school and play. I bring it to the pool and work while my kids take swim lessons. I sit out on the porch and work while enjoying the breeze. It is nice and light and the battery lasts about 5-6 hours on a charge. The built in Skype feature is a hoot. I have been able to get hair cutting lessons from my brother in real time and we had a blast and lots of laughs. The keyboard is large and very smooth and quiet. The mouse pad can be a little touchy but otherwise it does everything I need it to do. Overall a fantastic buy for the price!

I mainly use the netbook for word processing and internet surfing. Its got a lot of space to store my music and pictures and other files. The only downside so far is that the keyboard takes a while to get used to (the shift key on the right is really small).

I use this netbook constantly for travel, out of office meetings, and work time in cafés. It's got everything my larger laptop has except for a CD drive, which is fine. My one concern is that it's just a bit heavier than the netbook I had before, but really, it's fine. I use it constantly. And thankfully it has Windows XP.

Purchased this Netbook for travel so I could leave my larger notebook at home. First time using the smaller Netbooks and was pleased by performance, size of keyboard and easy of use. This netbook boots up quickly, seems to have wonderful battery life and the keyboard is not that noticably smaller than a standard size. Used the build in webcam on Skype without any problems. Webcam quality wasnt excellent but not bad. Would recommend to anyone looking for a Netbook.

I have been able to do everything with it that I would normally do using my iMac; and that's saying a lot. Send emails, no problem. Chat using Skype, no problem. Surf the net, no problem. Do spread sheets, documents, watch YouTube, everything is possible with this notebook.

Works almost like a laptop. Bump it to 2GB memory and it's even closer. Loonngg battery life, bright display, quick-if you get the 270 or 280 (667 mhz), and so light and portable. I have one and I bought this one for my sister....she writes books. Actually will run windows 7 home , although a little slow. Her new one is built even more sturdy than mine. What else can I say....oh yeah, the price was great [...]

So far we have had this computer for about a month and it works great! It will mainly be used for checking email and surfing the net. The computer is very compact and easy to transport. I would highly recommend a case to protect the computer from any falls.

I wasted too much time on this non functional laptop. Asus "help" was incapable of helping and, that was that, unless, they said, I wanted to send it to them and then wait 14 business days for them to decide whether to replace it or not. [...] Returning the unit ASAP.

As an email and desktop client for a variety of home user programs (not a gamer), I've found the 1000HE to be a better buy than its younger sister, 1005HA, that I bought for my wife. It is less expensive and the track-pad seems more stable. I use it regularly for email, FaceBook and Twitter and find that Google Chrome works really well for traveling the web.

Typical of the Asus Netbooks, the font size (screen resolution) can change unintentionally, but that is easily remedied with a key tap. This is probably the result of inadvertently hitting a key on or the track-pad because the keyboard is smaller than a standard laptop or PC.
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!
