Building on the solid foundation of the RX, Elinchrom introduces the BXRi series. The Style BX 250 Ri Compact MonoLight is robotically manufactured, making possible extreme precision, light weight and the addition of computer chips for software implementation. Decoding the Ri designation, the R indicates remote operation capability, while the "i" stands for Eye-cell.
A Skyport EL receiver is now built-in, meaning not only remote, wireless triggering regardless of obstructions, at distances up to 394 feet, but also powering up and down or on and off with complete control of the modeling light. Eye-Cell is particularly handy when using the BXRi with the on-board optical slave to sync cameras with pre-flash or red-eye function. The photographer simply programs the number of pre-flashes specific to the camera or lets the BX 250 Ri do it automatically.
Flash duration is an extremely fast 1/2762 sec., capable of freezing action without blur. Of course, that would be academic if your strobe didn't recycle fast enough to keep up with the energy on the shoot. Elinchrom has that covered with recycling times of 1.02 sec. @ full power.
Purchasing a BXRi monohead gives you the key to one of the most extensive arrays of reflectors and light-shaping tools available, including the legendary Octa bank. Additionally, virtually every independent manufacturer of light modifiers makes Elinchrom compatible products.
Using your gear abroad can sometimes be problematic but BX 250 Ri is a world-citizen, accommodating power requirements from 90-260V via auto-detection circuitry. Now you can avoid the hassles and uncertainty of overseas rental, while bringing Elinchrom quality along wherever the job is.

Comments about Elinchrom Style BX 250 Ri Compact MonoLight (90-260VAC):
I spent a lot of time trying to decide if I should go with this or the Dlite series and I am GLAD I invested in this. The light is amazing and perfect for the amount of space I shoot in. I am curious to see how the locking clamp will work when I get the 5ft octabox but I'm definitely liking the side umbrella mount that can hold any size umbrella rod. Holds my 7ft Westcott umbrella just fine!

I bought the 250 to complement by 2 500 series lights and it works flawlessly. With the built in Skyport, you have ultimate control and flexibility. I absolutely love this light. I use it mostly as a hair or background light.

Comments about Elinchrom Style BX 250 Ri Compact MonoLight (90-260VAC):
Problem when using BXRi 250 with canon + 580 ettl flash + pocket wizard
Slave cell is set to off, no green light.
BXRi fires when 580 on camera flash is switched off. BXRi does not fire when auto 580 flash is on and fires.
My workaround is to cover the photo cell with black tape.
NOT an elegant solution and I expected better from Elinchrom
