Building on the solid foundation of the RX, Elinchrom introduces the BXRi series. The Style BX 500 Ri Compact MonoLight is robotically manufactured, making possible extreme precision, light weight and the addition of computer chips for software implementation. Decoding the Ri designation, the R indicates remote operation capability, while the "i" stands for Eye-cell.
A Skyport EL receiver is now built-in, meaning not only remote, wireless triggering regardless of obstructions, at distances up to 394 feet, but also powering up and down or on and off with complete control of the modeling light. Eye-Cell is particularly handy when using the BXRi with the on-board optical slave to sync cameras with pre-flash or red-eye function. The photographer simply programs the number of pre-flashes specific to the camera or lets the BX 500 Ri do it automatically.
Flash duration is an extremely fast 1/1558 sec., capable of freezing action without blur. Of course, that would be academic if your strobe didn't recycle fast enough to keep up with the energy on the shoot. Elinchrom has that covered with recycling times of 1.45 sec. @ full power.
Purchasing a BXRi monohead gives you the key to one of the most extensive arrays of reflectors and light-shaping tools available, including the legendary Octa bank. Additionally, virtually every independent manufacturer of light modifiers makes Elinchrom compatible products.
Using your gear abroad can sometimes be problematic but BX 500 Ri is a world-citizen, accommodating power requirements from 90-260V via auto-detection circuitry. Now you can avoid the hassles and uncertainty of overseas rental, while bringing Elinchrom quality along wherever the job is.

Comments about Elinchrom Style BX 500 Ri Compact MonoLight (90-260VAC):
I am a new professional photographer - meaning I just opened my first studio, and this is my first set of studio strobes. I literally glanced at the quick reference card after mounting the strobes on my light stands. I began shooting my first photos within minutes, and after only a few minor adjustments began getting incredible images.

Comments about Elinchrom Style BX 500 Ri Compact MonoLight (90-260VAC):
I am fairly new to photography and when I was looking to build a studio, I was looking to do it on the cheap (inexpensive) but what I got was cheap (quality of light). Then I stumbled across these bad boys (thanks Scott Kelby!) and needless to say it is like Field of Dreams in my studio! The quality of my studio pictures have increased so much that more and more people are hiring me! (If you build it, they will come).
Being able to control my strobes wirelessly from my camera is a huge pro and the amount of great attachments (softboxes, grids, etc.) makes the possibilities endless.
Don't hesitate to pick these up...they are more than worth it!

I use it for fill on either side with a grid or a stripbank on either side. The built in skyport is a big bonus.

Comments about Elinchrom Style BX 500 Ri Compact MonoLight (90-260VAC):
I heard about these lights at the Kelby Light It seminar. Really looked around at several manufacturer's kits, as I did not yet own any lighting equipment. Went back and forth for two weeks between these and Einsteins. I finally settled on these due to reviews and general Swiss quality. As I have purchased photo equipment over the years, I have tried to buy the best I could afford, so that it would be with me for years. So far that philosophy has not failed me.
One curiosity: I have them set up right now in a carpeted area. When I walk by in sock feet, my static is enough to trigger the light, even if I do not touch it. That might happen with any strobe, though.

I just purchased two of these lights and they were very easy to setup and use. I love being able to adjust the lights setting from the camera. Great equipment. I will buy another one for my background light.

Comments about Elinchrom Style BX 500 Ri Compact MonoLight (90-260VAC):
This is my first venture into monolights and I am absolutely thrilled with their performance so far. As with any bulb of this type you should be careful to not touch the bulbs with bare hands as this can damage them. The protective cap was initially a struggle to remove, but it goes on and off easily after only a few removals. Also, I can't get over how cool they have operated. Good luck getting a hold of a set as they are very popular right now, but worth the wait.

Comments about Elinchrom Style BX 500 Ri Compact MonoLight (90-260VAC):
This is bright. It may be too bright for you if you don't have proper space or the proper diffusers and grids, which even more expensive than the light itself when their prices are combined. I purchased the grids and diffusers but have not used them yet. I use the 500 with a big octabox, which still proves to be too bright for my current in home need, but definitely not the fault of the light itself,of course.

Comments about Elinchrom Style BX 500 Ri Compact MonoLight (90-260VAC):
I used this light for the first time in a big production studio set. The light was beautiful. The BX 500 Ri sensor auto-synched with my other lights no problem. The recycle time is fast. I recommend buying it. Heads up: the bulb cover was very difficult for me and my assistant to remove but becomes easier to remove after a few times.

After using Style 400BX and D-Lite4 lights the Style 500 BRXi is a wonderful piece of technology. The most useful function is the ability to remote control the power of the unit. This is must for any serious photographer.

Comments about Elinchrom Style BX 500 Ri Compact MonoLight (90-260VAC):
What a beautiful product! I have nothing to complain about this item; it is well built and feel durable and light enough to carry around for along trip; I hooked it up and fired away easily and got results as expected; it produced consistent results and bright enough for pro studio set up; it seems small, but gives better outcome than the cheap ones out there; nothing to complain and highly recommended. Good luck...
