Visual Departures SB-1 Overview

Steadybag allows fast, rock-solid shooting on any surface, eliminating time-consuming tripod setup.  It conforms to any uneven surface bringing a new freedom to location still and video photography.  Steadybag is filled with custom-milled polypropylene beads in an outer casing made of rugged waterproof expedition-grade nylon, and it comes with a padded shoulder strap.

If you use the Arca-Swiss type system of quick release camera and/or lens plates (from Acratech, Arca-Swiss, Foba, Novoflex or Wimberley) and seek the ultimate stability upon a beanbag, you'll find it by attaching two Wimberley Module 1 quick release arms (B&H item code "WIM1") to the quick release plate.  Connected to the quick release plate so that the arms face in opposite directions, a snowshoe-like foot is created which makes switching the camera from horizontal/vertical within the lens collar a cinch.

My low shots are so dreamy now

I film a lot of animals and nature and you want that steady ground shot without that subtle up and down your shaky hands can produce when you need to tilt it up. The bag does the trick in in a lot of situations. I rest it on rocks, logs, sand, and it just works. It gives you that steady shot. You can't really pan smoothly - it's not magic but it will give you that stability when you need it. I use it with my C300 - I think it would work best with mid size cameras. It's also fairly light for what it is too, I always take it in my carry on as a soft cover for my batteries etc. You can get it a bit wet, it seems to dry out just fine and rather quick too. I love it.

Must Have Steadybag!

When a tripod is not low enough, this bad boy comes in handy. This is a perfect size for my Sony PMW-300K1.
