The DM6 Kit from Alesis is a complete electronic drum set with every component needed to start playing drums. The included DM6 drum sound module features 108 high-quality percussion sounds. The pads and cymbals have a natural playing feel that will appeal to veteran drummers and newcomers alike. The snare pad features two separate triggers for rim-shot and snare sounds. Compared to other electronic drum sets in this price range, the DM6 Kit is remarkably versatile and well-equipped.
There are two separate audio outputs on the DM6, one for connecting your headphones, and another to connect to a sound system or an amplifier. This makes the DM6 Kit ideal for both practice and performance. The rubber surfaces of the cymbals and pads provide an excellent playing surface, while remaining quiet so you can play anytime without disturbing anyone. You can connect its USB port to a computer to use the DM6 Kit as a MIDI controller for drum software.
All of the components of the DM6 Kit are built to withstand the abuse of drumming. You can assign sounds to your liking, and even change the rim-shot sound on the snare to trigger other sounds like a cowbell. It features a built-in metronome and patterns so you can sharpen your skills. It also gives you the ability to plug in an external device like an MP3 player so you can jam along with your favorite music.

I have had an acoustic set for 9 years and when I switched to this set I was surprised by its performance. I enjoy playing after bands and record myself and the DM6 module has abled me to do both within one unit. I will mainly use this set to practice on for playing on acoustic set for 4 hours its an ear ringing waiting to happen.
Honestly for a first electric drums set I am very impressed with this set specifically. I can connect to GarageBand and record it there then take it to ProTools for further detail.
I recommend this set to anyone that is thinking of getting a cheap and quality electric drums set with endless MIDI possibilities.

I bought this as a starter kit for my 10 year old son. It has a decent feel and is easy enough for him to use, however, I'm not real thrilled with the snare in particular. Two reasons: 1) it is too quiet on the main "kit" compared to the toms and cymbals. Though the volume levels for each trigger can be adjusted and saved as a new kit, it just isn't enough. 2) The snare trigger doesn't pick up a drum roll very well. Otherwise, it's a good kit for the price.

I live in an apt. and this is perfect. I had a Tama kit back in the day and really wanted to play again , it's a workout and so much fun . The pads are surprisingly realistic feel, and the sounds are Amazing! If you don't wanna spend $6,000 on a "remo" kit ... Than this is the set for you!

Comments about Alesis DM6 USB Kit Performance Electronic Drumset:
I'm a beginner/novice who's always enjoyed playing drums, but never had an opportunity to own my own kit. Since living in Apartments for the past few years I've been thinking of getting a basic electronic kit, and this is the one I settled on.
The pads feel nice, and it seems like they can take quite a whack. It's hard for me to judge completely, as my playing is not perfect, but velocity detection seems a little off. It'll go from "Soft" to "Hard" very quickly. I can't tell if this is just an issue with the built-in samples. I'll soon be hooking this up through MIDI and using Battery 3 for samples soon. This will give be a better idea of velocity handling.
Overall, I'd say this is a good place to start. Any drummer with a decent amount of experience will likely not enjoy the unrealistic feel and awkward velocity handling. You're best bet is to go the Mesh route (Roland V-Drums)

I'm a guitar player that wanted something simple to lay down MIDI drum tracks while recording. For that purpose, it's perfect. Set up with garageband and EZDrummer was a snap; just a matter of plugging in the USB cable.
If you need to modify the set - say, you need 2 triggers on your ride cymbal, or you want to add another tom - look elsewhere. But for basic drumming at a great price, it works for me.

Comments about Alesis DM6 USB Kit Performance Electronic Drumset:
This would've received a 5-star rating, unfortunately there was one thing that stood out for me. The specialized snare pad that lets you hit the rim (for rim shots obviously) would often skip when I tried drum rolls on the pad. After failing time and time again, I eventually switched the snare pad with the 2nd tom pad and now use the 2nd tom pad as my ride.
It was a little frustrating at first to do full drum rolls, but now that I've made the pad switch, my snare doesn't skip anymore. If any of you are having the same problem, I recommend doing the same thing. However, I only use two toms live anyway, that's why it was so easy for me to make the switch (as there was no initial pad for a ride).
Any way you look at it, the price is great for the quality you get.

As far as I can tell, as a beginner, I think it's great. I'm a tall guy, so it seems a little small sometimes. But all in all, it's a good kit. I like it alot.

Comments about Alesis DM6 USB Kit Performance Electronic Drumset:
I'm a beginner with drums and I live in an apartment, so I've chosen the DM6 to practice because of the little space it takes when assembled and the (almost) lack of noise. Well, sound fidelity is very good, it really looks like acoustic drums. Response time is also good, but it's sometimes annoying to get used to the different sounds the same pad makes according to the strength you hit it. I also think it is a little bit hard to customize pads' positions because of the screws and plastic pieces used to fix them to the racks. Overall, I'm satisfied with the relation price x fun and I'm doing good on learning to play the drums with this kit. It's a very good choice for beginners.

Comments about Alesis DM6 USB Kit Performance Electronic Drumset:
I use this as a quiet practice kit w/ headphones. Decent selection of drums sounds. Pads seem sturdy enough, as does the rack & stands. Kick pad section is rather wobbly, and the beater double triggers the kick pad....I had to cushion the beater & the kick pad. The audio input works well for playing along with songs. Click track is a nice feature. B&H had it for a great price. Make sure you do the firmware upgrade from Alesis.
