Comments about Aqua Tech SoftHood Collapsing Hood for 500mm f/4 & 300mm f/2.8 Lenses:
Seems to be a great concept and maybe I just got a bad one. I ordered the medium for a 500 f4, but, when in place, the velcro hardly touched so there is not a great or tight fit. The plastic buckles are adjustable so I was able to get it to fit but there is no way I would stand such an expensive lens on this hood. Great concept though. Guess I could have tried the large but simply returned it.

I have only tried it out once, but it's saves space in the camera bag. I think the design is really smart. I like the way those Aussies think.

Comments about Aqua Tech SoftHood Collapsing Hood for 500mm f/4 & 300mm f/2.8 Lenses:
The original hood for my old red ring version Tokina 300mm f/2.8 lens would not allow quick release plate attached in hood reverse position. This soft hood works very well as replacement. It also makes the whole system smaller and lighter in storage position. The only cons may be the relative high price.
This soft hood also work with my 800mm mirror lens with 105mm front diameter, and it greatly improves contrast of the mirror lens.

Comments about Aqua Tech SoftHood Collapsing Hood for 500mm f/4 & 300mm f/2.8 Lenses:
I use this hood as a replacement for the hood that was taken from my lens. I tried to order a regular replacement from Nikon but the cost was ridiculous.
What I love about this hood is the ease of placement, durability and its' weather resisitance. Recently, I was out on an assignment when it started to drizzle. I was concerned that the hood would get soaked and come off....nothing was farther from the truth. The hood stayed on, I was able to get my shot and the glass stayed clean. The ease of use and the lack of weight makes this cover an ideal replacement for my hood

Comments about Aqua Tech SoftHood Collapsing Hood for 500mm f/4 & 300mm f/2.8 Lenses:
I was skeptical that this lens hood would substitute for the Canon hood that came with the 500mm f4 lens but I was not disappointed. It is strong, mounts to the lens firmly and does not vignette. It is easy to securely attach it to the end of the lens as the hood has counter groves that fit exactly the ridges on the lens. The adjustable snap straps attach it firmly in place. The best part, when traveling, this hood essentially unrolls making it flat where it fits nicely in the bottom of your suitcase. It will also fit flat in your backpack if you prefer to carry all your equipment on a plane. This is what I have been looking for to avoid the bulk of the factory lenshood, something I always had a problem with packing. With the way it is constructed, there is not a problem changing it quickly from the 500mm to the 300mm f2.8 lens. You will not be sorry you purchased this item.
