Interfit STR117 Umbrella Bracket with Hot Shoe Adapter
The Interfit STR117 Umbrella Bracket is a versatile bracket that will fit on almost any light stand. This bracket tilts and swivels to make aiming the light or flash easy. It also includes a hot shoe mount, which will accept virtually any shoe-mount flash unit (except Minolta/Sony).

I bought this clamp as a replacement for the incredibly cheap one that came with my bargain-basement Strobist kit. The hot shoe adapter is a nice touch and fits my 580EXII pretty well. I can't always clamp the 580 down until it clicks, but it's pretty secure. The ability to swivel the hot shoe adapter is a big plus if you rely on Canon's line-of-sight wireless.
The tilt adjustment is pretty nice. It's not exactly fluid, but works well with a big lever that makes adjustment easy.
I do wish the umbrella clamp had a spring in it to allow easy adjustment, but the thumbscrew is okay.
All the adjustment screws thread into metal inserts, so stripping any of them is unlikely.

It's not especially well made and I don't expect it to last years as it's all plastic but I am glad I bought it and am happy with its performance.

I love this adapter. I am going to order a few more. The hot shoe adapter isn't metal and the keeps me from having to tape it up so that I don't fry my speedlight. The bracket is solid and holds its position.

I bought not really sure what to expect for the price...it's ok. I think it's decent quality for the cheap price. But, I also bought a unit from Lastolite which cost mid-60 and the quality is far superior. I think this is a good back-up, but not what I'll rely on everyday.

I ordered this at the same time as an Impact brand adapter. The Interfit is about an inch taller than the Impact adapter. Because of the large hinge it looks and is chunkier through the middle. Mine was missing the stud from the packaging. The knobs that secure the bracket to the light stand and the stud to the bracket are of a more brittle plastic than the softer plastic of the body. I have a sensitive nose, and out of the packaging it smells like petroleum. The Impact adapter did not. The umbrella knob on the Interfit bracket is tiny vs. the Impact. However, it is better secured to the bracket body and passes through metal threads on the body (The impact body just has a hole drilled through the plastic).

This bracket is definitely not as robust as I thought it would be. It's made entirely out of plastic and it's the kind that feels a bit cheap. However, I feel that for the price, I can't complain. It definitely does it's job, but I wouldn't easily trust it to hold a heavy piece of equipment. I would feel much better with a bracket made from metal. However, regardless of the build material, it does a great job of holding my 46" umbrella and flash gun with radio trigger.

Do yourself a favor and buy a Manfrotto 026 instead. It's twice as much, but ten times the build qulaity. This thing is made out of plastic and will likely be broken in a couple more uses. Buy cheap buy twice!

The product is well built and sturdy. It's a huge advantage being able to quickly adjust the height with the stand I connect it to and to be bale to move it anywhere without having to worry about extension cords that would be required with most studio flash units.
