Great companion for 6X7 Westcott flexi background. Add a weight to this one (the bkgnd makes it more than a little front heavy)... a sandbag is perfect -- must have a sandbag unless you want the stand and background to topple over on your model. Note: the 6X7 has a little loop on one end -- you can hang this background over the top of the stand for quicker setup... clip it into place (top and bottom clips are easy to use, but you might need two people to manage a 6X7... we did) for more sturdy hold.

Very lightweight and not as "rugged" as I would have thought it to be considering that it is used for collapsible muslins as large as 8 feet. I bought this for a Westcott 5x6 collapsible muslin and I can see that it would work better using a standard century stand. That is the route I will go. Three stars because it did work.

Comments about Westcott Background Stand for Illuminator:
I use this to hold up my collapsible Impact 5x7 background; one for holding up the vertical and two for holding it up in the horizontal position.
Expect it to be a little flimsy BUT that is the whole point if you want something light weight to hold up the background without leaning against a wall.
This is definitely not for outdoor I would imagine, even with sandbags, because the legs fold to sit flush against the ground and any uneven footing would make it quite unstable to hold up a backdrop. Also, wind would be a factor.

I use this to do indoor portraits on location. It's light enough to be easily portable but sturdy enough to support 6'x7' flexible collapsible background. A good feature is the legs extend to flat giving a more stable stance than a light stand would.

It's a very useful product but, just as the other reviews say, it is flimsy. It is fine for studio work but I don't think it would work well outside. Still, it is a good value and gets the job done.

Comments about Westcott Background Stand for Illuminator:
I bought the Westcott support stand to go with their collapsible black and white backgrounds. The stand folds up to a small size, light but stable and easy to use. It also came in handy when I had to shoot jewelry. I used the stand [clip on the top and floating clip on bottom of the stand] to hold a white reflector board to get the best out of silver. Worked out great -I can see using this stand for several things. Fantastic product!

This stand is perfect for my collapsible backdrop. It's a great stand for the price and folds down to a small size to make traveling with it easy. I would definitely recommend this product to someone else and would buy it again.

Comments about Westcott Background Stand for Illuminator:
Works as described. Lightweight. Folds compactly. Works well with my Botero background. Only wish the sections were air-cushioned but they are not so just keep that in mind when you turn the knob to release one of the sections-- it will free-fall if you don't have your hand on it. Not a big deal though.

Comments about Westcott Background Stand for Illuminator:
I had just been propping up my Illuminator Backround up against walls, but was using it at a wedding reception for the first time and thought this stand would be more appropriate. The background barely stayed on and was bowed the whole time. I think one would be better off with a heavy duty boom mic stand with some clamps at the hardware store. Love the background, not the stand.

Great Price and gets the job Done! Overall pleased with the stand. The clips are a little hard to clamp on sometime but other than that great product. If you are trying to photograph someone from head to toe the stands feet are hard to get out of the way and allow the stand to hit the floor.
Comments about Westcott Background Stand for Illuminator:
It does a good job holding the background up but could be slightly sturdier or stronger/thicker. But it does work well.

Comments about Westcott Background Stand for Illuminator:
I use it to support a Lasolite collapsible background for videoing depositions. Its only good for indoor work on a level floor. It was the only stand I could find that had a simple clip to hold a background. Its small foot print, light weight, and tiny folded up size makes it perfect for quick setup on locations with limited room. It's not durable so treat it with care.
I thought about using a Mic stand but didn't want the extra weight or a light stand but they can't fit into tight spots and don't have any accessories to clamp background too, and their legs can impede the background from hanging properly.
